OK- this is too cool...

Plug a regular set of *earbud* style headphones into the wavedrum mini's clip sensor input. E.g. the kind that come with iPods.

Then strike the wavedrum mini's built-in pad with the left and right earbuds, using them as mallets. Every time the left ear bud strikes the pad, the assigned clip sound will trigger, along with the pad sound! this gives you really accurate sound layering options!

The reason the left earbud triggers the clip input is bc it's the "microphone" channel-- the left earbud acts like a mic, the right earbud is ignored as is per usual. (in case you didn't know you can use the left channel of most any set of headphones as a dynamic microphone).

I have a Wavedrum. I HAD a Wavedrum Mini but sent it back for a full refund after just two days with it. The Mini just wasn't/isn't suited for studio use.

I find it a very inspiring instrument.

I can see how for the drum kit settings in which different strikes bring out different instruments (eg hi hat bass and snare) could be problematic because it's hard to be precise sometimes but it appears to be a skill that can be gained with enough time spent.

But using the single instrument sounds like the bass drum, snare drum and ethnic drums works very well I thought on first blush today (my first day with the unit)

I'm sure it will wind up on one recording or another of mine. It's so addictive and fun to use. I'll be trying out a used proper Wavedrum next week and may post my thoughts then.

One of my favorite sounds on the Mini is program #58 "Bass SEQ."
Funky bass sound that works really well with some of the built-in effects. Fun stuff!

I did a video shoot for the Mini a couple of months ago. Hopefully some of that footage will get posted soon. I'll post a link when it's up.

even a normal microfone can be connected ,
but you need to know , what you are doing.

Now that you bring up the piezoelectric used in acoustics maybe I'll give my 000-18 GE a try. I have K&K pure western minis in it might be interesting is I could use it for some percussion.

for percussion triggering OK , when you tap on the wood.
triggering from the string sounds is maybe different
than you would expect...
