velocity point for drum samples?

Post by ChanceD11 »

I am taking all my favourite Korg drum kit patches and putting them into the computer.. Ableton Live.
I know how to do this just fine, but..
I notice the drum samples sound different at different velocities.
Does anyone know how many samples I have to make of each sound and at what point the velocity split(s) happen?

So for example say I have a kick drum that sounds one way if you hit it at a velocity of between 1 and 40. And then it sounds another way from 41-80 and then differently again at 81 to 127.

Is there some kind of reference to all the samples, or is there a good guideline of how to do this?

Or even better..
has anyone already done this work and willing to share?

Thanks!
