Connecting another synth via audio input

I am wondering if there are people who use the audio inputs of the kronos from another synth's output to prevent the use of a mixer (especially live).
I noticed on my TEX that the volume of the inputs is a lot lower than from the TEX itself (or distored), and I was wondering if this would be improved on the Kronos. Of course I could manually change all volumes of the Kronos by 50% but this is not really an ideal solution.

There are a few Forum messages re this using the Input.
Make sure you are in Line mode? Not Mic?
Adjust Input volume knob on rear of Kronos?
Sorry if this is all too obvious.
Perhaps you are routing Inputs to IFX with Distortion FX?

I will check the forum posts a little better.
I'm using Line mode (on max input). Volume knob at max (on TEX, but I guess on Kronos it will be equal).
I'm not using any IFX.. I know it doesn't work 100% satisfying on a TEX and wondered if it would be improved on a Kronos (like a sort of volume gain without getting distortion).

Michel,
I casually use a Moog Voyager RME through the Kronos audio ins in Combi mode: no leveling problems there, neither without nor with effects. The Kronos shows an input warning if the Audio In level control is set too high.

Can't comment on the Kronos, but with the OASYS it works like a charm!
I used to have my Radias and T3 go into the D3200 (recording desk) with seperate tracks. Was a bit of a pain having to keep pulling leads (L/R) out of the sockets all the time.
Now there are only 2 outputs for the Electribe and then 2 outputs for the OASYS, with the Radias and T3 going through the OASYS.
Great getting the use of the O Fx - haven't had any issues with degradation or distortion.

I really should try it again on my TX. I just asking, because when I will have a Kronos, I'm intending to use the outputs of the TEX as inputs for the Kronos. I know the Kronos sounds better but I need two keyboards anyway.

The Kronos has outstanding routing options for its audio inputs. And at its most basic, its no different than a mixing board....however you can route through effects and engines.......and THIS is where the inspiration begins. As has already been said...you can adjust levels easily.....give it a try....its where the real creativity begins....Suddenly you view your entire studio and gear inventory as one big patchable modular synthesizer! Also, consider routing Kronos voices from a combi out through other gear (such as a KP3 or other Loopers), and then back into Kronos, as a quasi effects loop.....on the trip back in....route through a different engine! The possibilities are endless!

MAN this is freaking me out

where am I going to find the time to explore all the endless possibilities this instrument has to offer

!!!
I just picked up a juno 6 and I can't wait to get started !!!!!!

I wonder what would happen if you have e.g. a TEX and output its audio into the input of the Kronos and outputting its input into an input of the TEX, creating a sort of loop.

Well, you'd need at least a 4-channel mixer in order to hear both at the same time. Could be interesting...

RonF that post is driving me nuts I just keep thinking of the crazyness I could do with my Wavedrum!

Right on.....I use my SPD30 similarly! Using a few varying bass drum samples (from SPD30) on adjacent pads, pitched down 24 or 36 (subwoofer range), layered with a crash cymbal at a low velocity setting, all tapped lightly with sticks randomly (slowly, around 70 bpm-ish), as a sound source routed in through MS-20 (and modulated accordingly).....and then routing the resulting sound out thru several Kronos effects.....and on out to an outboard reverb with huge hall settings.....then into a Looper device...(let the looper record the reverb tail on the second pass of the loop, but end it before the end of the second pass, for a seamless loop transition)...which then feeds into a phaser, or flanger, or other filter effect with high Res and low cutoff.....the resulting soundscapes are incredible....and it began as a crappy bass drum sample! Create two separate loops of non distinct random timing to play against each other (such as two pads on KP3...or better yet a looper with longer loop times)......you can kick back and listen to this for an hour and not get bored....because it will just cycle and self generate random ambient music...ala Steve Roach style. Now head back to Kronos for another tone to layer on top.....its endless!

Hooked up my M3 through the audio inputs on the Kronos, configured the inputs 1&2 in the Global mode and I was set to go.
Works great!

I tried to connect a Korg to my TEX but I noticed I had to lower the volume of each timbre in a combi in the TEX otherwise the TEX was way too loud (for the max input value of the other Korg).

I would very much like to simplify my rig and get rid of the little mixing desk I've been using on stage, so connecting my second board to the Kronos' inputs was among the first things I tried. Turns out that the routing options are great, so all the necessary flexibility is there. (I'd like to see better metering though.)
The problem is just that to my ears, the resulting signal path definitely does color the sound -- in a way which I didn't like. Going through the Kronos INs and OUTs, everything sounds quite a bit thinner compared to when the signal goes directly to the mixing desk. Also, I was fairly disappointed about the amount of added background noise.
So I guess I'll stick with the traditional routing.
