Hi all

This has been driving me nuts and is now working but weird:-

Configuration
I have Mac with latest OS X
M3 editor (latest) running standalone on the Mac
M3M (latest firmware) connected USB
M-Audio MIDI controller keyboard connected USB

PROBLEM
The M3 editor sees and connects to M3M perfectly
The M3 editor sees the M-Audio-MC as a MIDI input device BUT
the M3 editor receives NOTHING from the M-Audio-MC

FIX...but....
I fixed this problem purely by chance/luck...can any one explain this please:-
If I connect a third USB MIDI interface (I connected a Roland UM-1G - just the cable - no device on the end of it!!) - the M-Audio/M3M/M3 editor works fine.
If I unplug the UM-1G cable the M-Audio seems dead again.

I have tried all combinations of USB ports.

I am happy that i have it working but can't make any sense out of having to add a third unused MIDI interface to get the M-Audio input working.

I do not have this problem with Logic Pro - M3M and M-Audio both input fine at the same time.....

I don't have an answer, but I certainly admire your perseverance in getting it sorted.

Have you tried using different USB ports? How about updating the driver for the M-audio controller? Possibly the Roland is installing a driver that makes everything work, but when you pull it out, the M-audio defaults back to its own faulty driver.

I saw a similar problem when I tried hooking up the M3 to my MAC OS 10.5 - I needed to upgrade the M3's OS to 2.0.4... If you are at 2.0.0, then there is an issue for sure.... I have a link somewhere in this forum that stated this problem when I tried hooking up the M3 Editor.

Yes, I tried all the ports and combinations of plus I have the latest M3 OS and the latest MIDI drivers and the latest Mac OS.

I just simply have to have my spare USB MIDI interface adapter and just plug it in to any unused USB port on the Mac and then it all works fine.

Anyhow - it works !!! which is the main thing but it is all a bit weird as to "why" it needs an extra MIDI interface (connected to nothing!!).

The answer to these kind of problems often lies in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. Trouble is, no-one seems to understand how it works....
