Hi folks,
I have an M3 Xpanded with OS 2.0.4 - default factory settings.
I can't activate the Drum Track function (next to the Karma button) - please help me, thanks

Fugmann,
More detail? New instrument? New problem? What voice or combi? All?
I know there are some factory settings where drum track is not activated because no selection has been made in program. (From playing in store my recollection is that for these patches the drum track switch appears to be dead - so if you're building a new patch from <INIT> patch this may be the case.)
DT button should not be failing right out of the box.

Thanks for your reply,
DT seems to be "dead" in all modes. I guess that I need to activate the function in the patch set-up. Hovever I find it strange that the function is deactivated as factory default after upgrading from OS version 1.0.0 to 2.0.0 and hereafter 2.0.4.
The DT was "working" when I had the OS ver. 1.0.0 (came with the M3 which I just bought used).
Thanks for your assistance....

Sounds like result of incomplete update. Did you follow "doule boot" procedure while upgrading to expanded (v2)?
See

Another option (if you followed all procedures un upgrade) would be trying to restore factory rettings.

Thanks alland,
When I boot my M3 it says ver. 2.0.4 - if I should redo the upgrade process the question is from which step?
If a downgrade to ver. 1.0 is impossible, what should I do then? I have tried to load factory defaults without any results.....

I tried it - and it worked except that some of the piano samples are quiet??? What could that be???

If these are programs/combis that use EXP03 pianos, then refer article
http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/korg-m3:lo ... mple-files
you need load exp sample files on startup, article explains how to load these automatically on startup from usb stick. This is required with older models of M3 where expanded os v2.0 samples were not in internal SD card but needed to load from external usb.
There is also article how to include needed expanded samples to internal SD

I have tried to follow the procedure and still no sound from the Grand Piano....
When I had the problem with the drum track button I "re-installed" OS ver. 2.0.0 by following the procedure from Karma-Lab. When I had to perform step 2 and do the the upgrade from 2.0.0 to 2.0.4 I didn't succed because the M3 said that 2.0.4 had already been installed.
Now I think that i need to force the last upgrade to the M3 - question is how? Do I need to dismount the internal SD and overwrite the files by using my PC?

I do not think you need to do anything "forceful" with update. Just upgrading to v 2.0 needed launching update procedure two times.
Now it seems that you have done that and also latest OS and it should be OK.
1) to be sure we talking the same issue please give some references to programs that do not have sound (Program numbers i.e IA-003 or UF-112 etc)
2) if you are talking about sounds powered by EXB, then see page Media - EX-USB PCM. This is quite self explanatory - but:
a) see whether Stereo Grand Piano status is Loaded, if not try to load it and set its Auto = checked and it loads on statrup
b) for loading EX-USB sounds and if you have older model of M3 then you need usb memory stick with needed files in file system root (i.e. not in folders) in usb port A
c) if you do not have extra 256 MB memory installed, then you can load only one EXB sound at time
See also Expanded M3 supplementary guide for more detailed help

Thanks for your reply, alland
I have ordered the Radias board for the M3 - I guess that I need to perform another update when installing it, right?
Maybe that could solve my issues...???

Radias EXB has its own OS. If you have Radias EXB installed you can read its OS version on boot screen. If it is less than 2.0 you should do Radias OS upgrade from
http://www.korg.com/uploads/Download/EX ... 890000.zip
I do not think, however, this solves your piano sound issue. Please check that your EX-USB PCM samples are properly loaded and if this is not issue, you may try to reload factory content.

Sorry but I don't understand your questions

c-minor's Q's are diagnostics for what I thought the initial problem might be - inactive DT selections - they might work if single programs were messed up, but not with a global problem.
I think you're on the right track with the OS advice Alland is posting.
Good luck with it.
