iMS20 sweeps limited to 16 steps, though pattern longer

Hi. I was wondering if there is a way to have controller sweeps, for the full length of a pattern, even if it exeeds 16 steps.

As I see it, if you set the pattern-length to e.g. the full 64 steps, you still only have 16 steps per pattern for recording sweeps (e.g. with the Kaos Pad).

The only way to overcome this is to copy the pattern to a new one (repeatedly) an then make the sweeps over the progression of patterns. The only probem with this is that if you want to make a really long sweep, you will soon run out of patterns, since you have only got 16 of those.

Anyone else been struggling with this ?

while you can *seeminly* set the pattern length to more that 16 steps i cannot figure out how to program the 17th and onwards

True, the pattern is always limited to 16 steps, but you can set it to repeat in the song by setting the "stepgrid" to a larger number. Setting a grid to 32 would just have the effect, that the 16 steps repeat twice, thus repeating everything through the original 16 steps, including parameter changes for e.g. filtersweeps. You could get the impression that you actually had to do with a pattern of more than 16 steps and that you could build long sweeps this way, but unfortunately this is not the case.

After all, this is a replica of the original analog (voltage-based) stepsequencer, so it is a rather "authentic" limitation, though.
