Sounds are sticking

Occasionally my Korg Triton Extreme keeps sounding a chord even after I've lifted my hands off the keyboard. Anyone know what might be causing this? Lack of RAM perhaps? :(

Typically an about to fail sustain pedal (wire short or busted switch) or one set to wrong polarity (open vs closed - check switch setting in global under controller parameters, (damper) pedal, +/-.

Sustained notes issue

Thanks Bill. The polarity for the sustain pedal setting was incorrect - I'd been using a Roland sustain pedal and had set the polarity to [+]. Now that I don't have a pedal attached I've reset it to [-] (i.e. Korg standard).

However I still get a sticking notes problem when I try and record sounds from my Korg via midi onto my PC (running Cubase SL). I'm just wondering if the richness of the signal (i.e. the amount of data being transmitted) is simply too large for the midi cables to handle? It doesn't happen all the time so it's not a major problem. I'm wondering if it would disappear if I swapped my midi connection betwreen the pc and my Korg for an audio connection? Fully appreciate that this issue maybe something to do with Cubase rather than Korg. Would be interested in ur thoughts though.

A tech who posts here has found a fix for this

Fothe,

Same issue... different source?

Not a Cubase user so this is pure spitball troubleshooting.

It could be that Cubase has the same sort of polarity based issues as the roland pedal. Most sequences transmit a "zero controllers" message. If that includes a "reset sustain control to Yamaha/Roland standard" then the first time a controller message gets sent you won't hear sustain where intended, then you will hear sustain at let-off which will hold 'til the next "on" signal.

Try setting your Sustain to the Roland (non-Korg) polarity and running the sequence again.

I had that same problam. I had to open up and resolder the connections on the damper jack and so far it has not done it since. I use this playing out every weekend and it's been about 3 months and still good.
