Hi, I have:

- Triton Classic
- internal SCSI card
- Triton internal HDD
- Pc + Windows Vista (the operating system can be changed)
- Other synthesizers

Until now I use the Triton sequencer for recording, connect the other synthesizers via MIDI, I use the Triton's sampler for the other synths (which have no midi).

The problem: The sampler is limited to memory. I can not burn audio long in the sampler, or direct. The effects of PCG are limited in SEQ mode. The internal hard drive is giving me errors. I have to load the samples every time ...

My question: Which is better?
Pro Tools, Cubase, Sonar, or any unit as Fostex LR16?
I have not much money.

What I want is to record any and all synthesizer (MIDI and Audio) on different tracks, and to forget the triton sequencer.

1. the best DAW (digital audio workstation) software is the one you KNOW it WELL.
If you don't know how to work in none of them.. it's a question of what friends you have that KNOW , so you can learn faster.
2. what audio card do you have? the card is one of the most important things at recording. you may search for cards that have bundle CUbase or Sonar, or...
3. search for the best combination of software-included pluggins, to avoid buying other software then the bundle.

Now, it's all a matter of buget.
But I think CUbase LE4 is one of the most complete bundle included for audio cards.
The LE4 version has limitations, but I think that 2 insert/ 4 send effects , 48 audio tracks , 64 midi tracks , 8 vst instruments and up to 24-bit/96 kHz audio resolution is enough for home recording.

Thanks, I have not ever used these programs, but that's no problem, I learn fast. My sound card is normal, because especially the sounds I use are the synthesizers, not the card, especially in MIDI.
I always use the triton sequencer and no use pc, to sample also use the triton. I Never use pc (though I know well and use it to make sounds with cool edit pro... and then to the triton sample...) but not for to do the final songs.
But I would increase my options and have the ability to record off the track at a triton, to use 100% of the effects of triton, and incidentally, other audio synthesizers (including the ever triton)
What do you think of Cakewalk SONAR Home Studio 7 XL? I can record audio tracks (many many) and in piecemeal fashion, add audio, and everything sounds good?
I do not understand the importance of sound card, if I only use it to input-output and not as a source of instruments. It is not enough good quality recording?
