200,000 note sequencers

Post by shanny »

Looking at adding another synth to go alongside my Triton, seems like Yamaha has a nice Motif series but the internal sequencer only has 130,000 notes. Now, I have no talent in the math department to convert bytes to notes, my biggest song on the Triton is 157K, that's in bytes, but how do I know how many notes that equals? Would 130,000 note sequencer suffice?????

Well, the Triton sequence stores more than just notes - effect settings, routings, all the arpeggiator settings and everything else you see in the sequencer.

If you're looking for something to go alongside the triton, you should consider that you can sequence it from the triton using EXT/EXT2 mode timbres.

Many would recommend that an actual synth - e.g. a VA, or something else which brings a different synthesis technology to the table. The Triton is a sample-playback based synth and does *okay* at a variety of sounds, but a dedicated VA or FM or other type of synth would bring you more of those particular sounds in higher quality and with more flexibility.
