KORG PA2X pro -3405695742 BYTES=405,9905 MB RAM

Post by ikulev »

:D Important! stop for a moment calculations appears to be a problem not noticed earlier ..
after loading more than 256 MB, showed that memory does not end and you continue to upload samples, only noticed that it began to confuse any of that soil from the first 00 pcm -99 pcm
, Switched inside the board with all the chips 256mb 512 MB, but no improvement, now the internal memory where loaded resource is no longer 256 MB and 512 MB, but it must be alterable December opratsionnata system have improved, have someone who understands programming, I've got more pictures of the board korg pa2x pro where I changed the chips
sdram, see the PCB has been left on kudeto tape for putting up ram but do not know what chips should be a 48 pin if I find any decision will inform you
====================
Hello, you boast what I did with my Korg pa2x pro,
I did it with 405 MB of RAM sample and everything works well now in need
already user sound of korg must write new software can now have a sound useri, banks or empty sounds: there figures
display how many bits is the free RAM memory: 3405695742 BYTES = 405,9905 MB RAM
and will soon upload a video to see with your eyes ...

Interesting stuff.
Look forward to the details of what you actually did.

Have you actually tested the memory though playing back sounds beyond 256MB ?

Sharp.

His numbers are certainly wrong but as we have seen in the past, there's some pretty resourceful people out there willing to do crazy things with their keyboards.

I just did some numbers and I think someone somewhere was confused:

3405695742 bits is 405.9906 megabytes

I don't know where you got that from.

3405695742 bits,
divide by 8 to get:
425711697.3 bytes
divide by 1024 to get:
415734.343 kilobytes
divide by 1024 to get:
405.991 megabytes

you can even divide by 1024 again to get:
0.396475 gigabytes

but still, it isn't clear what the OP is saying, considering I don't think you can get memory in non-integer multiples of a byte.

I know the difference between bits and bytes, I was just saying It definitely isn't 325mb either. I would like to know how you arrived at that number?

My point was, if you convert that number of bytes to megabytes, you get 3-point-something GB (not 350 MB), as already demonstrated and confirmed by other members.

This can be proved simply by extending my numbers from my previous post:
If it were in bytes, then you need to multiply my result by 8 to cancel the conversion from bits to bytes (making it as if we'd started with bits in the first place), giving:
3247.928 MB
divide by 1024 to get GB:
3.171GB

So either way, it isn't 325 MB (where did you get that number from?)

also, from the OP's message:
there figures
display how many bits is the free RAM memory: 3405695742 BYTES
So actually both are mentioned, and it isn't clear which is intended. But as I already said, 3405695742 bits does equal 405.991 MB, so it is likely that the OP meant bits and that the 'BYTES' is a mistake, because the numbers match up, whereas if they had meant bytes, then both numbers would be wrong.

Not that I believe it anyway until there is some proof or explanation. Sorry for the long post.

Hi everyone,

I think what Ivan has done and what he said is consistent. He has fitted 4 GB RAM (last statement 3405695742 BYTES = 4,059,905 MB RAM) and he has tested using a 405 MB RAM sample, something certainly not possible with an EXB-M256 expansion board from Korg. The screen shots he posted don't appear to be fakes and they also show 3405695742 BYTES = 4,059,905 MB RAM.

I would be very interested in the details of the modifications necessary to do this. I assume some address line jumpers have to be fitted to the ARM processor, and that an internal RAM PCB has been fitted with additional chip select decode circuitry.

Very clever, Ivan, well done.

Best regards,
Rob

зареждал съм може би около 350-400 мб ,семплите се зареждат,само че забелязах ,че се развалят първите семпли които съм заредил,трябва чиповете на рам паметта да са по 1000 мб ,за да стане да се зареждат 512 мб семпли
Loading'm probably about 350-400 Mb, simple to load, only noticed that deteriorate first samples I have loaded, you need RAM memory chips are 1000 MB to be uploaded to 512 MB samples

The PA2 uses S0 SDRAMs. S0 is the Laptop-Format. S0 = S ZERO
