Dear musician,

My Korg M3 is working very good.... only got one question.

I use my M3 in combination with a Roland X7. I use the Roland for programchanging and play most of the songs on it. The M3 I use mostly for solothings like analog sounds (I have the Radias installed).

Now I programmed a nice little piano on the M3. I want to play this piano sound on my X7 (linked by midi). When I play a song with this combi it sound exactly the way I've planned but when I play the same thing on my X7 the sound that I get out of the M3 is sounding more agressive and a little exciterish....

Has any of you got the some problem and maybe you solved it?

Please help me out here...

Thanks.

I bet it's just a problem of feel. The X7 probably has a different velocity response curve and different keybed feel than the M3, so while you may think you're playing with exactly the same touch and pressure on the X7, either you're not or the X7 is interpreting your touch as softer or harder (I'd guess harder in this case) than the M3 is expecting.

Solutions? I don't know quite what the M3 is capable of, but you might be able to adjust the velocity curve of incoming MIDI data or, on the X7, adjust the velocity curve of outgoing MIDI data. Failing that, you could edit the piano sound you've programmed on the M3 so that it sounds the way you want it when controlled by the X7 (which will likely make it sound wrong when controlled by the M3, but that's not a big deal).

Thank you for your reply.

I also thought it had something to do with the velocity curve orso but I think it isn't.

The sound is sounding very cold and I cannot make the same sound when I play the combi on the M3.

this sounds like a simple midi change you need to make on your X7

You want to send over the ' patch/program change ' from your X7 to your
M3 and nothing more

if thats not it, you will have to match the VC on your M3 for the Program to the X7

Like assign it to a X7 piano patch and save it

Then use that ' saved combination " ( the mod'd X7 patch and the M3 program)
