Karma/arpeggio and programming

Hey there,
In the Triton I always used the Arpeggio to play pattens automaticly.
I found out that the M3 has the "karma" instead of a normal arpeggiator.
Does anyone of you could tell me how to programm this karma easily? I do not use it very often. I just want to programm a sort of guitar strumming together with some choir and strings. I just cannot get the karma started.
Thank you for your kindness.

Hello Foppe,
As it happens, a user called shannong is writing a series of Karma tutorial articles just for you and me ! The beginners levels are finished.

The problem is - you never get you groove quickly from Karma as you can get it from arpeggiator.
You have to learn and learn and you will forget it next time you need a groove, because it is too complicated for normal musician. Forget about inspiration.
It is a shame that Korg refuse us to put simple arpeggiator in M3 as M50 has.
Instead of it Korg give us conjurations such as "arpeggiator on steroids, far far from usual arpeggiator", bla bla bla Amen.

ok, I thought that I was the fool... so infact, it is Korg itself.
Thank you for your confirm:P

Korg is doing a very strong error in implementing Karma
without the possibility to edit your own arpeggio patterns on the keyboard (you can do it on a PC with the Karma software, paying for it).
Korg has done this in the original Karma WS, in the Oasys and now in the M3. I really can't see because it is so difficult to understand that a keyboard player/composer NEEDS its own arpeggio patterns.
This is the (only) reason because I feel overall better with the M50 than with the M3. I know that M50 can do what
I want and not what "she" wants. (admitting keyboards are female

).

Hi, Klarnet basowy!
I see you already have bought M50, instead of M3. I am considering to do it too.

The M3 is doing great job for me, it is just the karma thing that totaly sucks.
Are there further large differents between the M3 and the M50? I think the sounds are great and much stronger than the Triton. The main structure is almost the same as a triton classic so almost every Korg user could program the M3. Is this also the same on the M50?
At the moment I don't consider about replacing the M3 for the M50, maybe I will change in the future.
Kind regards,
Foppe

Do not misunderstand me, M3 is another thing compared to the M50, the control surface of the M3 is on another planet. The keybed too.
But the rompler sound engine is the same.

Re: the arpeggiator..
I totally agree and I will be willing to bet the next workstation has a separate section for Karma.. and a separate section for an arpeggiator. Take your pick as to which you want to use! I think it would be a great idea myself. Karma is really fun and generates lots of pattern and ideas but getting the exact same "live" sound pattern using slider controls is too difficult. A separate Karma memory would be an improvement also.. or motorized slider control with memory.

Yes maybe this is an idea, I don't think it is possible that Korg produces a update for the M3 that has an arpeggiator.
They'd rather invest in a new synth...
Ok, than I have buy that one in the future;-)

Karma can work as a simle arpeggiator. It has the patterns of the Triton arpeggiator. But until now is not possible to create your own patterns on the keyboard. We hope that the next OS update give us a function that implements this important feature.

KARMA can do everything the M50 or Triton Arpeggiator can do. There is a certain GE Type that emulates the Triton/M50 arpeggiator exactly.
It's true that at the moment you need my optional KARMA M3 software to edit the patterns for this type (and other types) of GEs. But I would be happy to include an editable mode for this type of KARMA GE/arp in a future version of M3 if Korg wanted to do it. However, it's not up to me.

Hello Stephen Kay,
It is an honour to meet you overhere.
It is not that Karma doesn't work perfect, it is just that it is too difficult for the simple arpeggio's I want to use on the M3. I use it in a live band so I do not really use it for playing patterns orso.
Maybe Korg will devellope an editor for karma on the M3. I should studie the karma software to use it my way, there is no other solution for me.
Thank you for your comment/post
