ive tried using the 'search ' option but cant seem to find a thread similar to my question..

i own a korg TR 88 keyboard and i want to be able to record directly onto my computer (no microphone or anything), just playing directly into the computer. and i also need to know what software i can use to edit/mix my tracks with..

the thing is.. i want to record my keyboard tracks for myself but then i want to be able to mix them with other guitar/bass/drum tracks that are recorded onto the computer.. is there a program that i can use to mix all 4 sound track waves??

i was hoping thered be another way than just using a SD card.. like plugging things into the back of my korg tr 88.. but if thats too expensive i guess i'll settle for using a SD card. could someone recommend the proper SD card and equipment i'll need to record?

Instead of using the SD card, you could just record the audio directly via your soundcard, using any (also freeware) software...

Line-in of your soundcard is the magic word.

hmm. ok where can i get one of these connections ?? i cant find anything from stores like guitarcenter to plug in directly from my keyboard to my computer

does anyone know if theres a picture/diagram anywhere where i can learn where my soundcard is for my speccific motherboard (ASrock 4 core dual -sata2)?

I'm not going to look up it for you, but if your soundcard is anything like a typical one, connect to the Blue Minijack-in on your soundcard. So preferrably, one side of the cable to the Phones Out of your TR, other end to the Blue line-in on your soundcard. Check in Sound Config wether Line-in is turned on, and if yes, you should hear it all dandy.

As well, in the audio recording program, select Line-in as your recording source.

ok and wehre do i get this connection from my keyboard to my computer? what are they called and where can i get them (keyboard or computer store?)

It's called an audio cable.

First, I recommend reading the manual to your TR.

Second, the audio jacks can be found in the front and the back. The front, is a stereo headphones jack and the back, has two audio jacks, L and R respectively. Use the left for Mono.

These are large jacks, or 1/4th inch cables which will not fit into your computer sound card. You will have to get an adapter from a place like radio shack so that it can fit into your 1/8th mic jack, which is much smaller. Not surprisingly, this will cause loss of audio quality due to the difference in cables. To go directly into your pc, you will need an external soundcard, such as one that connects via USB.
