Ok, I've red around the forum, and people seem to be having different opinions about both of them.

Im using OS 2.52, so im wondering if i should go to 3.00 or 3.01.

Can anyone give me some pros and cons of each?

Thanks

OS 3.01 fixes some bugs that were introduced by OS 3.00, so my suggestion is to update to OS 3.01.
In my view different opinions only makes sense when talking about OS 3.0 (or later) or sticking to OS 2.xx (the latest being OS 2.54). But that is because I tend to play in Style Mode almost 100 % and I use EMC Style Works 2000 to convert styles from other brands and Korg changed the style format in OS 3.0, making this software not useable in the same way.
But OS 3.0 offers quite some interesting new features; read about it at: http://www.korgpa.com/pa_root/pdf/pa1x/ ... U-EFGI.pdf

This feature changed from 2.54 to 3.00 and then Korg put it back in 3.01:-

In OS3.00, (e.g.) if you are playing the Jazz "BeBop" VAR4 (with the drum fills) and reach measure 9 and then switch directly to VAR3, the measure drops to 1 and so the "feel" is now 1 bar out of sync. It did not do this in OS2.54 (it maintains and continues from the current measure position) and I rely on it particularly playing 8/12/16 bar numbers (blues/jazz etc..).

Now fixed (put back) in 3.01

Just thought you might be interested in this one - it was a great problem for me in OS 3.00.

Also, read the release notes in OS3.01 relating to "SOUNDS" which use RAM samples - there is a very simple update task which must be performed.

I recommend OS3.01 - as Admar says, more bugs fixed etc... it is always best to go for the latest release - also you can take advantage of the bonus PA800 styles.

Also both OS3.00 and OS3.01 have an undocumented "feature" where Local Off does not turn the accompaniment tone generator off, and this causes some difficulties with external MIDI hook ups.

Where are they btw????

- I've looked, but maybe I'm just slow......

(I'm not very bright...lol)

I'd love to use some PA800 styles (especially more contemporary sounding ones!)

Hi mate

The zip is here:-
http://www.korgpa.com/pa_root/software/ ... ection.zip - these are for OS 3.00 only.

These are better than loading PA800 styles because Korg have tweaked them for the PA1XPro.

Have fun

Cheers

Ta Pete, but if these are for OS 3.00 only, and I'm currently running 3.01, won't this create problems????

I'm pretty sure Pete meant OS 3.00 and upward. You won't have any problems.
