New OS 1.3.1 is available for download

*******************************************************************
OS:- https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/product/0/895/
Release Notes:- https://www.korg.com/us/support/downloa ... /895/5299/
*******************************************************************

I hope no more rebooting...

Improvements and bug fixes in OS 1.3.1

- Power saving
Pa5X will now automatically enter standby mode after not using it for twenty
minutes. Please save your data frequently.
NOTE: After an OS update, the Auto Power Off checkbox in the Settings > Menu
> General Controls > Clock & Power page will be automatically enabled. If you
prefer, you can disable it.

Bug fixes
- Keyboard Set to Style function resetting Octave value and Mute status.
Sometimes, with the Keyboard Set to Style feature turned off, the Octave value
and Mute status were reset when choosing a different Keyboard Set. They now
stay at the correct values.

- SongBook and Style track parameters.
Some Style track parameters, like Program Change and Expression values, were
always saved with fixed values for all the Style Elements in a SongBook Entry. Now
Sounds and Expression values can change on each Style Element.

- Audio routing of the Effects
Insert Effects could arbitrarily route a track’s signal to a separate audio output.
They now follow the correct routing.

- Scale Key and transposed scale
The Key parameter in a User Scale wasn’t saved correctly and was wrongly reset
in some conditions. Also, we fixed another rare issue happening, when using a par-
ticular scale setting together with transpose, while an Intro or Ending was playing.

- Lyrics and Chord alignment (HDMI video out)
Sometimes, chords and lyrics contained in TXT files were not correctly aligned
when shown on an external display connected through the HDMI port. They are
now aligned.

- Text character sets
Lyrics containing non-Latin characters could not be shown correctly.

- Various bugs
Various bugs have been fixed, improving speed and stability.

The developers/repairers of the OS were also not on top of the situation!
I have no idea what they are doing and how, but it happened again, as in previous cases, that as many things were corrected, they made at least twice as many mistakes along with it!
At first it was a pleasure, because what they wrote, they really improved (there were some that I asked for), but I immediately became sad because what worked until now, there is something that no longer works!
For example, if you enter an edit (style, pad, sound, song, sampler, etc...) after pressing the exit button, it asks if I want to exit, I confirm YES, then nothing happens. In other words, it happens, you can choose KBS and others, but you can see the editing interface on the display.
I won't list the other mistakes, but again there was a pile...

... since then I've done a couple of reboots, this EXIT error seems to be gone!

The function of transposing another keyboard via the midi cable still does not work, it is incredible that everything worked with the pa4 and older models, but it does not work with the pa5

After every OS installation, the system needs to be "cold rebooted". The automatic rebooting done by the OS after installation is called "warm rebooting". POWER OFF; WAIT FOR 40 to 50 seconds (to ensure that the power capacitors are completely discharged) and POWER ON this is called "cold booting". Good to know that the EXIT issue is fixed after rebooting. I will install it after I'm back from the festival celebrations.

This doesn't seem like an update. Changing the automatic shutdown to 20 minutes. Why not have it so we can set it to what we want. This doesn't fix anything. What a joke. I'm not going to waste my time installing this one. I don't see the benefit.

As you can see in the version name it is a bug fix release and not a feature release. In this case with small improvements.

So the good news is; there was only a 3 month span between Firmware releases. Looks like the Dev team is back on track with a more frequent release schedule. Very welcome indeed!

20 minute shutdown is not a bug fix. I would have to be rebooting far too often. Not. If it was just bug fixes, that would be OK.

Yep, in 2026 it will be perfect, with 1.5 version :D

And still it is with some improvements. You can discuss if the improvements are improvements to you, but I think they are.

I think the Korg Arranger market is not as big as the synth market. Big improvements and the perfect keyboard is what we all looking for, at least as great as the Pa4X but more. Korg wrote that the Pa5X OS is completely new and if this is true I hope they send all the developers for a few months to the Arranger section. Rebuilding an OS starting from the bottom will take years to get to the level of the current OS. I think the developers are working agile as the rest of the world so we need to expect new features and bug fixes with every release. For the consumer who paid for the complete package this is very frustrating. And with that in mind communicating with the consumers is what is required to build a support base.
