Hi everyone,

We are playing Roundabout by Yes. I have created a reverse piano for the intro. I want to be able to hold the crescendo until I am ready to release the chord and the guitarist strikes his harmonic. But I can't seem to find a way to make the reverse piano hold once it reaches its peak. Note by note it releases, even if I have the damper / sustain pedal on, and I can't find any parameters to change so that it holds until I release the damper. I would normally use the AMP EG to extend the Sustain, but this doesn't work.

Any thoughts appreciated?

You can't forever sustain a sampled sound source that is decaying quickly. An extreme example would be a sampled closed hit hat sound - an infinite sustain on its amp envelope won't make it longer. In the case of a reverse piano, you could use a longer sample or morph different piano waves via a wavesequence to get exactly what you need.

Not being familiar with all the capabilities of the Kronos, I will give some ideas to consider. Can you create a reverse sample of the piano? If so can you loop it at the end, when it is the loudest? Maybe sample the sound from the actual recording and loop it at the end.

I am sure that's possible on the Kronos and is exactly what I'm after (ie holding the maximum crescendo point until I release), but I have never done that so I'm not sure what would be involved. I currently have a programme that gives me the reverse piano. I don't know if you can sample just a section of the that, and then how you would loop it.
