Pa5X corrective update v.121 summary

Post by AntonySharmman »

As all of you have understood , this update is exclusively for fixing important issues in OS and add some missing factory resources and
definitely not for missing functions add-on that will be released later , and the reason of premature release is because of Genos 2 announcement !

- The most important flaw of corrupted saved stereo compressed samples has been fixed and now you can enjoy 160 stereo polyphony of
custom samples like big Grand Pianos.

- All issues in micro-tuning AMS controllers have been fixed and all work fine.

- DK Sounds are fixed and can be defined as CHORD or any for including melodic parts of sound and system does not automatically change them.
But when used in KBD SET , transpose Tabs of panel do not alter up/down semitones and this must be fixed.

- Stereo samples still have an important issue , when select single trigger of OSC (important for polyphony saving) L- audio channel is lost.
How to recreate this :
Go to SOUND mode/Factory pianos Select German Grand Dry , go to menu/Basic/Sound and click SINGLE TRIGGER square and remark that
Panning do not change since this is not a real stereo piano but paired L , R samples as in Pa4X with polyphony of 80 notes.
Now select there Austrian Grand Dry that is a real stereo piano with 160 notes polyphony , if you edit it as before and click SINGLE TRIGGER
square then notice that this will cause elimination of L audio channel although pan is zero.
The only way to activate Left channel is to move Pan value to -20 , this is a bug that must be corrected.

- Screen still freezes while editing in mixer.
While in mixer / EQ page for instance and you edit style tracks volumes , screen suddenly holds on one track volume and does not respond
selecting next track volume or any other selection unless you press 2-3 times new selection or pressing menu or exit.

Hope this helps

seems to me all they have "fixed" is those areas required by folks like you who do esoteric programming, and probably have the "ear" and make the most direct complaints to Korg, and none for the myriad of everyday performers and home users!

i mean, really, those updates in the "real" world of performing with this thing? They are a joke!

i can see no "important" issues (well those that apply to MOST folks and not boutique developers) that have been fixed!

No fix for the editing issues, no fix for the chord sequence transpose issues, STILL no Songbook Editor - nope unless another one is "around the corner" then this just gets worse!

But luckily for Korg, the Genos 2 is such a non-event, and is not going to set any sales records, so they can go back to the state of torpor they are so used to!

I have described of what kind of update this is , Bugs Fixer.
Power Users know very well of how important are those fixes !
BTW , Genos 2 is the only competitor of Pa5X and it's a fantastic plug & play arranger for end-users who work with factory resources !

Nobody knows for sure Bernard , but KorgPa owe customers further development and Christmas is a good period.
Also considering the fact that they give attention to Pa4X compatibility , I guess that many missing Pa4X functions will be implemented.

@AntonySharmman, thanks for posting this.

Are you saying that the two issues you pointed out ("Screen still freezes while editing in mixer" as well as "...But when used in KBD SET , transpose Tabs of panel do not alter up/down semitones and this must be fixed") existed prior to this v1.2.1 release and has not been addressed yet or it's a bug with this latest v1.2.1 release?

Also, does anyone know if Korg reads these forums or is made aware of these reported issues so they know what issues customers are having so they can fix. You can't fix what you don't know... :)

Of course they existed before and have not been addressed yet !
Always update to any latest OS update !
Of course they read topics but they do not respond lately , they always did it since decades.

I am REALLY surprised that no-one else seems to care that Korg STILL have not released a Songbook Editor....nearly two years after the release...the PA1x Pro had it available after a couple of weeks iirc.

So either Korg are not bothered with it anymore, do not have the expertise to create one, or are waiting for who knows what, it would seem we are not going to get one.
imho, this is one of the MOST vital tools Korg create, allowing users to meld several songbooks and create various different ones, and please do NOT suggest the setlist tool, it is so NOT the same thing!

Alternatively give the guy who creates the PA Manager the required data so he can perhaps add one to his program.

And further, still nothing on being able to save whatever you have set under the control section to a Songbook file??

On Genos, whatever state the ENTIRE keyboard is in, all knobs sliders and buttons tones, registrations etc, are saved as a complete scene. So it's not like it cannot be done hey!!
