How to read songbook on Mac (PA4x)

Post by leesjoy »

Would anyone be able to provide insight ? Thank you.
I understand there are limitations for Mac users. So…….

Problem: my PA4x will be sold shortly, and I would very much like to save time and effort by importing my current songbook into a new PA5X.

I realize of course the many outstanding issues with the 5X but my needs are quite simple; I use styles and save tempo, key changes etc to the Songbook under the song title. Approximately 1000 songs on existing SB. It would undoubtedly be an enormous undertaking to duplicate on the 5X.

I have heard of a SB editor, but not for Mac.

Many thanks, comments always appreciated….. :)

I recently converted my PA4x SB directly on to the PA5x with very little trouble. This was made possible with the update 1.2.0. Most of the SB converted ok a few did not convert because of a missing style or midi file but I would say at least 90% was ok.

SongBook Compatibility 4x vs 5x

Post by leesjoy »

Sounds very promising Tony, thank you so much. This would save me huge amounts of time and effort obviously. I can easily live with 90% results. Most likely less in my case, since I've acquired extra after-market styles elsewhere. Either way, not a show stopper.

Question: The update "1.2.0" in your reply would be in reference to the keyboard, or the version of SB? My guess would be the keyboard.

Otherwise, am I deceiving myself by thinking I will not be adversely affected by the bugs etc that has exploded over the 5X? Virtually everywhere I look it's mostly negative feedback. Yet, you seem fairly satisfied. Am I right?

Yes, 1.2.0 is the Os version of the KB. I'm pretty sure that when you get yours it will already have been updated.

I am happy with my 5x although there are still a lot of features that need updating but hopefully these will be addressed in the next upgrade. Many of the things that users are saying are a problem have not directly affected me.
