Drum mapping in midifiles ?

Post by Piotr1967 »

How to change snare drum or other percussion instrument in midifile ? Is the procedure the same as in the Control Style section ? E.g. in Ketron SD9 it is very simple and well solved.

Yes you can do this easily for a whole or any part of a song.

Let's say that from measure 1 through to 8 your snare drum is note D2 but you want to change it to D4
in other words transpose it 2 semitones up.
(In this example, I'm assuming that the song is in 4/4)
  • Load your MIDI file in SEQUENCER MODE
    Press MENU
    Select SONG EDIT
    Select "TRANSPOSE" tab
Make sure "Track" is set to your drum track
Value represents the number of semitones you wish to transpose - we want D2 to D4, so enter "+2"
Start Tick (beginning of measure 1) is the starting tick in the song to apply this change to e.g. "001.01.000"
End tick (end of measure 8) is the ending tick e.g. "008.04.192" being the last tick in measure 8
    Bottom Note will be "D2"
    Top Note will be "D2"
    Press Execute
All D2 notes will now be D4
(see page 350 in the latest PA1000 User Manual)

You posted this in the PA4X forum section (I moved it to PA1000 section) because it seems you have a PA1000 hope this is correct...

Hope this helps
