Lead sound

So, I'm researching how to make a Rudess style lead sound. I found a post on specific things he programs for the joystick, but I have no idea how to do these things and I can't find anything online, so here I am. I've quoted what Rudess had to say on his lead sound. Any help here is greatly appreciated!
"Set the bend range for a whole step up and an octave down! Secondly I programmed it so that by pushing the joystick up it lovers then patch with the fundamental tone and brings in sine wave based feedback tone. Kind of like one tone disappears and the other begins!"
