I googled this out of curiosity and it led me all the way back to this old thread in this forum:
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 7f3c90f1a5
In short, it won’t work on the Kronos, at least if my understanding of the approach is correct.

Kronos 6 SE + Fantom 8
I know what you mean. Unfortunately, the only video out on the Kronos will not give you the screen but the underlying OS prompt, which is of no use except to diagnose certain problems. I modified the screen on my Kronos to adjust its angle as I wish, but it is very complicated.Dacuck1 wrote:...just looking to ' Mirror' it to a larger device, at a high reference point for better visibility and easier on fused neck .. !?

That is true, but it may actually be trivial to redirect /dev/fb0 to another USB frame buffer device. It depends on whether Korg have implemented their own frame buffer driver with unique kernel functions or not.

I happened to have one of those USB to VGA adapters for when I was doing audio/visual.
I attached it up to the Kronos (and M3) and to a VGA monitor - no signal.
Oh well.

right, the video data is sent from the motherboard’s serial port.KK wrote:The Kronos screen contents comes from OMAP processors and dedicated ICs on Korg proprietary PCBs. The internal video out on the motherboard gives only the OS prompt.average_male wrote:IIRC, Kronos sends video out via Serial port to its LCD driver board and not via USB, VGA nor HDMI, right?

The text on the display is pretty small. And we're all used to smooth and quick touch response now.
What if you could hook up an ipad? I feel like the Kronos has all the pieces and parts with all the engines and MIDI control. It has sysex, so an editor could be made. But what do most users want? Do you want the exact same screen only bigger? Or maybe the pages need to be arranged better, less jumping.
Someone made an ipad app that mirrored the combi view, I forget what is was called. Doesn't seem to be talked about much.

Wifi unit attached on usb would be a good solution.KingKronos wrote:The text on the display is pretty small. And we're all used to smooth and quick touch response now.

And a firmware update to make that possible and an app to go with it.
Even my cheapest $400 DSLR have wifi to do that, on both iOS or Android.
So the tiny display become nice and bigger and can be attached at any place on a video stand etc.
- yes, it does live video
My latest laptop has really nice features with gestures and stuff on touch pad. So a wifi unit maybe with a touch pad to attach somewhere - or built in on a Kronos successor.
Touch pad allow up to 4 fingers to do certain movements. And you are not dependent that screen is right there to touch.
With a tilted upright display it's better with horisontal touchpad, I think.
