Software Update to New SD Card from Mac?

Hi all, My son's Krome Workstation 61 suddenly is getting this message at boot up: Error 216 1 line: 0401.
I've looked at the forums and see lots of instructions for uploading an update onto a new SD Card. But is there any advice about how to do this from a Mac? I tried to upload the new software onto my new SD card, and the error message is now gone, but the keyboard seems not to recognize the new SD card, so there is not sound from the piano. Not sure if the SD card is formatted wrong or if it's the wrong type or if it's a Mac/Pc problem or what.
