D32xd hard drive upgrade and OS

Hi everyone. My D32-XD hard drive is full. (Many times over) I'm tired of dumping info to create new songs. What's the largest HD I can install and does there need to an OS installed? I was thinking of simply copying the XD HD to another larger drive and installing it. Will that work? ... I've been a member here for many years but lost my sign-in info. No matter.
