I have a brand new Prologue 8 unit. I have stereo headphones plugged in, I select '500 Init Program' my Voice Mode Depth is set to POLY. But when I start to play I get every fourth note played panned hard to the LEFT. Is this normal, is it a setting I could change, or does this mean my unit is defective?

I do not think it is normal.
There is the parameter that changes panning, voice spread, but it is not hard panned left for sure. Maybe you could try manual tunning.
To be honest fhis is the first time i hear about an issue like this
