Hi All,

A few more newbie questions:

1. How can you verify what version of software/operating system is installed on my Kronos right now, so I know what I may need to get to make my Kronos 100% up to date?
2. If I update my Kronos to the latest software/operating system version, does the latest version include all the prior revisions, or do I have to find all the individual updates/revisions that have come out since my keyboard was new (I just got my new Kronos this week, 03/13/17), so it probably has most of the system updates already installed. But, to repeat, how do I ensure that all the prior updates that may not have been installed, get installed?
3. Is there a place where an absolutely complete, 'spoon fed' version of how to perform an update to the Kronos, resides? Ideally, a video that goes from how/where to get the software/operating system off of your computer and on to whatever device you will use to move the update to the Kronos (thumb drive, external hard drive, etc.), then how to get that software onto the Kronos?

My apologies if these have already been addressed. I'll be happy if you can point me to prior threads where these have been answered.

You can see the present version of your OS on the start up screen.

Normally all previous upgrades are included in the latest OS release.

There is a read me document with the update and you can find a step by step account in the main manual; also I found a thread on this forum

One last question. I probably need to get a new Flash Drive (thumb drive) to perform these transfers, and possibly to use for backups. So, are there any limitations (other than being formatted to FAT32) that I need to be concerned about?
1. Can I use a USB 3.0 Flash Drive (are USB Flash Drives downward compatible with USB 2.0) or do I need to just get a USB 2.0 drive?
2. For doing general backups on the Kronos 2:
a. Is there a minimum suggested size in GB that you would recommend?
b. Is there a maximum size that the Kronos won't be able to read, or won't 'mount' if larger than a particular size?

Well I'm no expert on USB sticks (as we call them). But certainly USB3 seems to work ok with USB2, it just can't get the new speed. Size wise: I've used large capacity (128 gb) and small (8gb). Again a good quality stick, may be more reliable....... also they all run at different speeds. But personally I don't have a preference. But 8gb would be big enough. I make back ups of updates and sound libraries on my laptop as well as keeping dedicated sticks for various keyboards. If you wish to back up most of the data on your Kronos, I think you would need quite a large stick or back up disk...... best to refer to manual for that.

One strange issue i always have is with my two different usb sticks.
One is the flat open kind(got that free) while the other is the enclosed kind. Both are the small compact kind you see everywhere these days. One is 8gb and the other is 32gb.
I always kept them in the same insert slot in the rear panel, but then after months of that, i switched their insert positions and the 32gb would not show up in disk mode. I pulled it out and reinserted several times, made sure firm seated and tried blowing and seeing dust was out of it.
Nothing worked, so i switched them back to the first insert positions and it shows up in disk mode every time, but i have to wait a bit and sometimes pull it out and reinsert and change modes and come back to disk mode for it to show up.
It seems like it is the usb stick itself because the second open usb stick will work just fine in any insert slot.
But then again, the supposedly bad usb stick never has a problem when i insert it into the computer. But the computer is not FAT limited either like Kronos is.
I just keep them in their original slots and never take them out unless transporting the keyboard in the case or anywhere outside of the house.
All works fine when i just leave them be, so i haven't run off to get a new usb stick... Yet.
