Hopefully a quick question. Something dumb I'm overlooking.
I'm setting up a basic combi which includes piano and strings.
It's a Kronos 61 so I have switch 1 set to drop the piano by an octave.
I didn't want switch 1 to affect the strings so I unchecked "Enable Switch 1" for the strings in the MIDI filter section.
Switch 1 is still dropping the strings by an octave.
I checked the actual strings program I'm using and switch 1 is not tied to anything there either.
What am I doing wrong? How can I make it so switch 1 lowers the piano by an octave but doesn't effect the strings.

I replicated your issue and ran into the same problem. SW1 doesn't seem to work for this solution (That I can decipher). However, the Karma Trick of a very recent thread seems to make for an easy enough solution.

Specifically, I made a karma scene with 1 piano and 1 string program. Then I made a second set with 1 piano at -12 pitch and 1 strings (same as first scene). I could then switch between karma scene 1 and 2 to effect what you are wanting.

The midi filter for SW1 filters out the SW1 CC#, which is 81 I think. It doesn't actually prevent the hardware switch from working, if you've set it to "octave down" instead of "SW1", the octave down will not be filtered out and still work. I don't recall off the top of my head if there is a way to change an SGX2 program to an octave lower using SW1 but if it's an HD1 piano you can set up SW1 as an AMS source in the pitch page I'm pretty sure. Then it'll go an octave down when you use SW1 CC#81.

EDIT:
Actually I think if you're using an SGX2 piano you may be able to use Tone
Adjust to set up one of the switches above the sliders (not SW1/2) to transpose an octave down, since it's a main page parameter of SGX2.
Since Tone Adjust only affects one timbre at a time, that should fix your issue, right?
