Triton Classic, an amazing piece of kit

I joined Korg Forums in August 2002 so I have seen some changes in the technology that goes with music.

I have written most of my stuff on the o1w/fd and Triton classic (TC).

The point I'm trying to make is that I have always chased the technological advances within music technology thinking that the next plugin or sample package will solve all my problems. Not true. I still use my TC and 'sample assault' which was a sample CD written by Sharp who runs this forum. Two of his best programs in my opinion are the 'Steinway Piano' and 'Movie strings'. I have spent hundreds of pounds on sample packages for Kontakt 5 because I love orchestral strings only to revert back to Sample assault and 'movie strings'.

The point I'm making is that advances in technology can be in some circumstances just smoke and mirrors without actually any improvement on previous sample packages.

Worth bearing in mind and thanks to Sharp for writing a great sample package in Sample Assault.

Cheers
Spud :)

Cool post, I too love the Triton Classic! I've had mine loaded with the MOSS board since the early '00s and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I'm sure you and I like most Producers, have favorites that we can't go too long without using... from patches to effects, etc. 8)

It's good to still hear great things about the Triton. I sold mine years ago

1) because I wasn't really doing anything musical but my buddy was and
2) Because it was way to heavy to lug around anymore (back injury)

But I miss it sometimes. Whenever I'm trying to figure something out on another keyboard (mostly the Kross) I always think "I knew how to do this exact thing on the Triton."

I'm in several bands nowadays and if all I had was the classic Triton, I'd be fine- it does everything.

I feel sorry for those bands.
