So a friend had this lyinig around in his house and said that i could keep it if i could fix it. So what happens is that i can't get it to power up; according to the manual it should start as soon as i plug it in my computer (tried all usb ports). I'm using a diferent cable than my friend but still getting the same results.

I have the tools to open it and weld something if necessary but i wouldn't know where to start.
Also if you guys know any way i have of troubleshooting this please tell me and i'll post my results ASAP.

Also, i know many people dislike this thing but i really need it and can't buy anything similar since i'm kinda broke.

A useful thing to do is to determine the history of the device from its present owner. Has it been dropped, or has the USB cable been snagged? Was it left connected during a lightning storm? Are there any tell-tale marks of any possible damage.

The USB connector would be the first thing to look at in the absence of any specific clues, since these can become dislodged if the USB cable has been caught on anything. Check that the contacts from the mini USB socket to the PCB are making a good connection. Also look at the contacts that mate with the mini USB plug to check thet they are OK. It is possible for a micro USB plug to be forced into the connector, instead of a mini USB and that could damage the socket. It would need to have been forced in quite hard to do any damage but, sometimes in the heat of a moment, this could happen.

I don't think the nanoPAD is too bad a product, especially for the price. It is no worse than equivalent products from other manufacturers. I've been able to make quite expressive drum sounds using it, and have not read any real complaints about it on this forum.
