Playing Hammondsimulation on M3 or M50

Post by Korgagent »

I use my M50 as a Hammondsimulation with the additional B3 Organlibrary from ksounds.
Will there be any advantage when playing these Organsounds on the M3?

Sonically I don't think there is any advantage. The M3 keybed is nicer so that could be a consideration.

The big advantage is that you can use the 9 faders on the M3 as drawbar controls, so you can change drawbar settings on the fly, although the controls are the opposite direction from a real B3.

There is a ksounds Organimation for M3 which is based on samples rather than internal tones, so gives an added degree of realism (e.g. foldback on high drawbars), although it takes a couple of minutes for the samples to load. In practice, the difference was slight, so I preferred to use drawbar programs based on internal tones, rather than wait for the samples to load.

So the faders function as drawbars with the internal organvoices?
I didn´t find that in the Operation guide.

On my M50 I use the ksonds organlibrary with great succes. But there I have only the four controlknobs for the drawbars.
So I am thinking on changing to the M3.

Is the keybed really so different?

No - not exactly. With the ksounds combis, each program in the combi corresponds to a different drawbar, so you can use the faders in mixer mode to mix different levels of each drawbar program. This is why the faders are the opposite way up from a real B3 (push up to increase a drawbar instead of pull down).

The Kronos uses the faders as drawbars for the CX3 organ programs - and these are the right way round.
