Get a windows 8.1 12" tablet with ableton live and NI komplete and you have mobile performance at your hands..
Ipad works good for music reader or an external edditor like for the roland BK9...
But in this fashion, the ipad is nothing but a toy.
Would like to know how you fit NI Komplete onto a tablet - even one with 128GB
Or do you mean parts of Komplete perhaps?

No, just replace the internal SSD with a 1 TB samsung 840 evo... Its just a bit over €400.. And it works perfectly... You just need the right tools for opening up your tablet and for creating an image of the orrignal SSD and sizing that up to the new size...
To be honest, i build my own tablet of a tochscreen with some standard laptop hardware... But that Samsung SSD is a true winner, fast, sharp price, and huge

Good to know but I'd rather use a laptop. Thanks for the info.

As long as it has a touchscreen, because the magic is all in the touchscreen...
Try using vsts on a 27" touchscreen, and you will never ever look back...

Well I have to say I'm really impressed with the Korg Gadget. I own quite a lot of synths and modules but I don't have that much space and my two young kids mean I don't get much time to play. That's why something like this is ideal for my because I can pick it up when I have a spare 10 minutes and mess around with it.
I thought a lot of the demos were very Dub Steppy which isn't my cup of tea, so I've created something much more 80's sounding. See what you think of some of the synth sounds....

Yes the ipad beats the hell out of any laptop for portability and the price and quality of a lot of the apps make it a no brainer indeed. Even if you only recorded into a computer daw with it. Gadget definitely is bringing a lot more to the table also I would agree.

A Windows notebook with touchscreen is definitely a fine thing, but no replacement for my iPad Air at all.

True, but a Windows Tablet is.
Sharp.

Sorry, but that one isn't either from my view.
A windows tablet is good for what it is, and does thinks my iPad can't do.
But it is
- a) not nearly as handy and leightweight as my iPad air
- b) the iPad offers enough useful apps not available on a Windows tablet.
I would perhaps consider a Windows tablet replacing my Lenovo Tablet PC at some point in time (though that one again is MUCH better for writing with a fine pen and text recognition than any finger touch screen).
But no Windows Tablet of the present generation will even be considered to replace my iPad Air.

Indeed you would be correct Jim , a Windows Tablet is not to be compared to an Ipad. The apps just are not there at the nice price at all. I have asked this question about quality inexpensive apps for tablets and just do not get an acceptable answer. The Ipad synth apps are the best value I can find by far and the touch screen is a bonus not to be taken lightly. I do understand the dislike for apple. Apple is the game however and definitely worth playing at this point in time. Perhaps Windows will make it to the same table someday but so far they surely have not. Yes there are things I can do with windows that I can not with IOS however this is a two way street and that can not, be denied.

I'm new here but have been 'lurking' for a while reading all the post on this thread.
Some interesting discussions. I personally think Gadget is simply amazing. A huge step forward.
I thought people might be interested in my efforts at using the fantastic Guitarism to play acoustic guitar in Gadget. It's a great combination I think.

Hate to say it, but have to agree here. I'm practically "Anti-Apple" for various reasons but if I want the apps (Especially music ones), iDevices (with iPad being the most usable IMO) are the ONLY choice. Truly a shame as I really don't WANT to buy an iAnything! However I'm getting tired of waiting for Android or Windows support by these apps.
