... nahhhh... without duct tape it would lose that je-ne-sais-quoi... that "vintage flavour"...synthguy wrote: if oz-man's find was cleaned up a bit, that red spray paint rubbed off and the duct tape yanked,

but of course you missed all the pop-cult references

the red-spray paint is a tribute to graffiti-art,
the low-fi cut and paste artwork is a tribute to post-minimalist-punk hyper-protools-edited cheesy trance music,
the fact that it has no audio outputs is a tribute to john cage,
and the fact that you have to slam a 25% tribute on its 4000 usd price tag for importing it into Europe is... a tribute, stop.

You can still see it in the thread at GS: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/electron ... ad-10.html
like what?Synthoid wrote:Yes, and if you leafed through that online magazine, you would have seen some other surprises. One thing though, the Kronos won't see any competition at Messe this April.

I wonder if Roland hit on some magic formula with its SuperNatural algorithms. I've heard some good things about them, just like I've heard some good things from Yamaha's Super Articulation engine, or whatever they're calling it. Just six more days, is it, five? At this price, and going to the highly prized Jupiter name for this thing, they seem to think they have something pretty special on their hands.
We've gone without awesomely lifelike expressivity in our keyboards for decades now, though we've sure grouched about wanting it. That's one of the key points of the DX synths, with the dynamics of FM synthesis, in which each keystroke sounded unique and unstatic. In the not-so-old days, synthmakers worked around it by offering more wave rom with longer samples, and more velocity sampled layers. After all, how many would use an M1 with its skimpy wave rom to score orchestral strings, or use its piano in a solo classical piece?
We all want these sampled sounds in our workstations. I sure do, and yet everyone grouches about them... other than me. Well, these guys are trying to make us happy, Yammy with their articulations, and Roland with theirs. I'm sure willing to listen.
I'm curious how many of us would like to see KORG pull something like this in an update to the KRONOS. Say, sacrificing a few voices of polyphony, or a few dozen voices, in order to supply some articulations for HD-1 sampled voices. Let me be the first to raise my hand on that one. *raises hand*
By the way, pardon me if I drool a bit over that Hammond...

Two whole days
Countdown starting:
2 days to go.....
Did Korg announce the Kronos too early... Why isnt it ready??
Does Roland have a virtual game changer too (virtual, as in no-one has seen one yet)?
Cant wait for Wednesday!

Re: Two whole days
Maybe you heard about that pesky little "disaster in Japan"?RKfan wrote:Countdown starting:

Yes I did
Thanks for your reply Stephen...
Yes There was a whole long thread on it ... Here is a question posted in another thread which is related which maybe could point you in the direction of what we would like to hear from Korg
But often companies do give out information like ... because of the problems we are having at the moment.... we have to reschedule things.... and think that we hope to begin shipping in .... [insert estimate] ... Its called keeping people informed
I hope I didn't annoy you too much with my Karma Chameleon joke last week

I am not criticising Korg because we all know the hell that Japan is going through at the moment....What we want is a statement of it being 'on time'/ 'not on time' at a minimum, and 'when' is the desired piece of information.
