Maybe his problem is he can't, for fear of a heart attack. Or he just spent all his money for hs XF and is stuck with it now.

Being stuck with a Yamaha XF should be no problem for you, McAllister.
It is a nice keyboard with a lot of useable sounds and nice third party support. No joke. All fine.

Of course it's not, what you would like it to be, and it is one whole workstation generation even behind the five year old Oasys. Sorry to tell you this. The others didn't tell you because they thought it could be too much for you. But else the XF is quite useable for music making anyway, even if a little behind as pure sampling device. You need no B3 clone on board, no VA on board, as even Kurzweils and Clavias provide. And of course you don't need all the excellent Kronos synth engines. You just need a Yamaha XF! Don't mind: you still get some useable sampled stuff from that: enjoy it!

Not heard of lossless Kronos compression even for sampled material yet? Don't mind, you will learn. Not aware that your talk about "thin" Oasys/Kronos sounds is just funny? Don't mind, you will learn. You don't need more than 2 octaves of key transpose with your splits? Fine, because the XF (just like all Motifs) just hasn't more. You get by with 4 layer velocity sampling (Yamaha Motif) instead of 8 or 16 velocity layers (Kronos)? Fine with me, I rather use 8-16 without velocity jumps, but don't care: you will get by with much less!

Still need BIGGER THAN BIG letters to feel important? Just contact some helpful persons to find a way back. Remember: Capital letters don't make dwarf talk big. Try something else. We wish you all the best getting cured and growing up.

So just go on making music with your Yamaha XF. It's a nice instrument, and we won't disturb you in your creative process

Maybe not, but for the racist remarks he continually makes, he should be banned. All of the name calling and excessive swearing is just icing on the cake.

I read some posts from a macalister in the kronos thread on the motifator. He was defending the oasys.

Oh yeah, that was another life. I remember on my study when the prof introduced that 1 bit processor. After understanding how it worked, my next project was a succesfull emulation of the same in a 8 bit x 16 prom.

I remember another similar story when the HP-86A was introduced the first time. Being in the era of the 2MHz 8080's I asked the clock speed of the 86 and when the answer was: 600 kHz! The majority laughed (me included). Later when we got one of these with the task to program some graphical demos, we were astonished of the power of the machine itself compared to the CP/M ones we used to work with. YAMAHA still working in this technology, started in 2008, you will see the next Yamaha Workstation doing this and more, the rumors:
is working hand by hand with Spectrasonics to included in this new beast all the Omnisphere engine (with 8000 sounds),same as RMX (will read REX2) and Trilian as part of the engine in the next Synth, and you will be able to load and run FX VST’s like, Waves, Focus, etc all in realtime but with a warm polish sound .Still a Pure Yamaha headquad secret until Kronos release this springtime.H’to wait. BE READY KORG.
