At least "some light" at the end of the tunnel

.....and I am confidant that KORG will troubleshoot these problems.
Thanks ROB for the update.

The situation currently is that an engineer from Korg labs has three times (Nov, Dec and Jan) requested that I send my Pa2x to Italy for study about the repeated LED failures. Three times I have said "yes" but I added a condition, asking "can Korg please make arrangements for me to receive a loan or replacement Pa2x, since mine is in constant use almost every day".
There has been no response from Korg labs about a loan machine. Each time I make this request, I receive no reply and it goes quiet for another month.
Korg Labs did confirm that the .SET file I sent them causes software failure as previously described by me, but they have made no commitment to fix the problem (despite requests from me), and they said the software failure does not cause LED failure as well.
Last time (in 2008) my machine was "studied" for diagnosis of various design problems, Korg labs had my Pa2x for almost 3 months, and I am not willing to be without it for another protracted period. And I can live without LED's since everything else is working.
Best regards,
Rob

Hello guys,
So by now I have 3 LEDs not working on my PA2xPro. This is obviously a defect in the design. I do not think that this problem is related to loading a specific SET. What should I/we do?

I'm not proud (and quite upset) to be part of the "
FAILED LED" brigade...
I always empathised with you guys but now I can feel the
real pain....
Just checking my warranty but think it is too late for me....

Pete,
I recently had 14 led's fail on my PA2X which was a couple of weeks short of 2 years old i.e. out of warrantee. I am pleased to say that Korg [UK] were very helpful and replaced both pcb's free of charge as they recognised that it was a known problem. I hope that you can get your keyboard similarly repaired.

Hi
now on my PA2 is the 4th LED (Display Hold) blowing. Its lighting with half energy.
During the dieing-phase my PA2 makes 2 Mistakes.
1. Its not possible to save PADs into a songbook-entry.
2. Its not possible to change the Mod-Tracks on Menü/Effects-Main-Side
So I´m shure that not the LEDs are the problem. There is a Main-Failure which affect to several destinations.
When this LED is completely off (in some days), alle other functions will work correct. (Developing-Mistake ???)

Hi Peter
Thanks for your post. I have contacted my local repair centre who have suggested that I wait to see if Korg come up with a solution.
However, I am going to formally complain through the country's distributor next week and see if they agree to covering the repair.
I am still concerned (as I think Rob had indicated earlier) that replacing the PCBs is not necessarily a "fix" for this problem. As I understand it, Korg have not established the cause as yet. All I have done since my LED problem, is to upgrade my power protection by purchasing a quality UPS.
That may not prevent further problems but it makes me feel better.
I wish for everyone's sake that Korg would make some comments about this but as everyone is aware, Korg have been silent for a
very long time now.
I would even (reluctantly) pay for the repair if I was sure that it would work. I still think this keyboard is the best available in its category.
If my livelihood depended on playing my PA2XPro I would definitely be using an alternative keyboard by now.
Cheers
Pete

I saw a few post whether there is similar light problem in pa800. I had light probelm in pa800 but it was different...a few lights blinks on right panel (there always were weak red lights and it blinks as well with varying intensity) and i had to take it to service center...they ordered and changed the right pc board and thus far it is working fine...it was under warranty...so changing pc board should be right thing to do i guess for pa800.

Do as Sharp has said - get onto your local retailer or distributor and explain the manufacture fault - they should be able to help you. Note that the boards need to be replaced, NOT the LEDs. This information came from Paolo Korg Italy earlier in this forum.
Please take some action - you will get it fixed.
All the best

UPDATE:
Korg sent me a pair of front panel boards for my Pa2x on an exchange basis. I dismantled my Pa2x, replaced the boards, and sent the old boards with faulty LED's back to Korg. I think the cost is less than 100 Euros for exchange boards. It took me about two hours work. The new board have been working perfectly for the last two months.
The two boards are each about 14 inches by 6 inches, so the package is small and light.
I think for those whose Pa2x is outside warranty, it is a viable option to order the replacement front panel boards (left and right), and fit the boards yourself. You need to negotiate an exchange deal with the Korg distributor nearest to you. Korg can send the boards back to the factory to replace all the LED's from the faulty batch with new LED's so the boards with faulty LEDs are not wasted. I do not think it is viable for anyone to de-solder and re-solder LED's on these boards yourselves, the holes and tracks are far too small and you will damage the through hole plating.
Anyway I will make this offer to anyone who wants to fit replacement panel boards yourselves. Go ahead and order the replacement display panel boards and try to negotiate an exchange deal. When the boards arrive, send me an email (click the email button below) and I will send you the additional information you need to dismantle your Pa2x and fit the boards yourself.
Best regards,
Rob
