 Well if you're at the "For Dummies" stage of the project, our fun will be lasting for quite a while.

dutchcow: glad to hear you're channeling your dislike for the e2 into something productive.

I hope your project goes well :) there's certainly big improvements that could be made, especially with regard to user interface. I don't think any company has made a really great groovebox interface yet, I think there's still unexplored space there and improvements to be made. So, good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

The display on the E2 has a lot of unused pixels, lets not go there.

HEY! DUTCHCOW! OVER HERE! THERE'S SOMEBODY HERE WHO DIDNT TAKE YOUR ADVICE AND IS HAVING A GOOD TIME! COME OVER HERE AND TELL HIM HE'S STUPID AND HOW IT'S AN UNUSABLE LEMON!
of course people are going to love the box the first day or 2 or up until that time when they actually dig deeper and realize the box is severely handicapped. By all accounts these are great sounding machines. Plug them in for the first time and start messing about and the initial impression is surely impressive.
I was the opposite. All of my disappointments were in the first couple of days when I found all the flaws.

Id love for this to be improved; what a waste of space currently.

Indeed.

Has anybody attempted to alleviate some of their DISAPPOINTMENT by running this fisher price toybox thru an Altered Obscua Delay yet?
Havent been able to get my hands on one yet.

No, but I run it into this and get some impressive tones.

dutchcow wrote:Got a question though; what do you think will motivate Korg to build a better product?

1: People spending their money mindlessly on half baked Korg stuff
2: People not buying Korg stuff until Korg releases a decent product/firmware
Well said DC, I wish somebody could continue with this type of analysis so we together can get something done for the future. I love this "democracy internet thingy forum-ees" but then when you open a poll of choices to get some serious numbers in for korg or other manufactures, only like 1/10 of forum users would contribute to a poll... are we doing something wrong as a group ... or we have way too different usages for the E2 family product.

I think you caught it right there. So many people are using the e2 in vastly different ways....standalone...with different gear...pattern chaining...working in single patterns...etc. So everyone is having a different experience with this.

Not sure if someone covered this already, I didn't read all E2 threads, so:
According to Mistabishi (who knows if he's right), there will be a firmware release sometimes July with atleast the following glitch fixes:
The notes carry over, the reverb tails carry over, and sounds switch with no gap. It is gone. You can make it glitch if you want by changing lots of values but functionally it's gone.

Edit: Might be old news. idk

Indeed -

but further disappointment expressed on the Facebook page - we cant let this thread fail at becoming the web's premium presentation for electribe disappointment!
:)

Specific Disappointment reported on facebook of

1- the Value knob with its default of Pattern ruining workflow and losing work - poor interface design.

2- Gap between pattern changes reported as 30 milliseconds (!!!)

And if you wish to express your disappointment of disappointment posted here - please post!

It all contributes to the post count, thread status, view counts and eligibility for search engines.

if you are experiencing more than normal disappointment please see a doctor immediately as we don't want to see you that disappointed that you get sick.

I've heard a few people mention that the ES2 has "hidden features", but I wouldn't be so quick to call them "hidden features" as they only seem to be hidden because Korg released a super vague manual that doesn't cover its full functionality. By calling them "hidden features" suggests that korg is doing us a favor and are providing easter eggs or something. let's not pat them on the back for putting out a lackluster manual.
