@Dingo: Wow, what a great troll reaction... anything else to add before to be banned? LOL

Isn't it easy for us to ignore little cluesless posters like dingo?
Let him write his idiotic oneliners and just skip the nonsense, or ban him if he repeats offensive crap.
Trolls are too boring to deserve any answer.

Hello Guys;

Correct me if I'm wrong

HD-1 is simply sample playback
SGX-1 is also sample playback (however no loops)
MDS-1 is Physical Modelling (Dedicated to Electric Pianos)
Str-1 is Physical Modelling (Dedicated to the Plucked String)
AL-1 is Analog Modelling
MOD-7 is Variable Phase Modulation (Korg's version of FM)
MS20ex is Computer modelling of the MS20 (Analog Modelling)
Polysix is Computer modelling of the Polysix (Analog Modelling)
CX3 is Physical Modelling of the CX3 tonewheel Organ

BTW Folks I just ordered my KRONOS 73 from Sweetwater, and the prices I've seen quoted here are extremely high as opposed to what I paid, I won't say what I paid, but I will say that I barely paid $3000 for mine

And Dingo was his name

Dingo;

Dude or Dudette;

Do you really have that much time on your hand to come here and bash KORG.......get a grip on your Jealousy....and while you're at it get a grip on a life or something close to it.

Uses samples as basis - it's not pure physical modeling.

It's analysis/resynthesis.

EvilDragon;

Oh my bad, I didn't know that, I thought MDS-1 was completely synthetic, can you point me to where you found that info at, and has anyone from KORG USA or KORG R&D out here in California confirmed that info.

@danatkorg: Yep - that sounds better!

Reminds me of the fun I used to have in Camel Audio Cameleon5000, and now in Alchemy! 8)

@jimi: seems like you've got your answer from Korg's man himself! :lol:

Hello Again Dan Phillips;

If the MDS-1 is "Analysis/Resynthesis" then correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that be "Synthetic"....?

Also Dan;

Is Korg R&D working on something like this for Saxophone, I can see the "Analysis/Resynthisis" method really shining for Saxes, since they are practically the most dynamic instrument, and hard to sample properly, I loved the saxes on the O1/W, and the Triton series, however before I sold it, my OASYS 76 really didn't impress me much in that department, would love to see Korg do better saxes.

Nope, that's not completely "synthetic", because they're analysing the core samples and resynthesizing them according to various factors. It's basically a lot of Fourier at work:

* analyse the sample, break it into a finite number of sine waves, each with its own frequency and phase
* analyse another sample in the same way
* interpolate between the two samples to get the in-between value

This would be an example process of taking two samples sampled at different velocity levels. After the interpolation you could play an "in-between" velocity and wouldn't notice any phasing from crossfading the velocity layers - you wouldn't be able to notice velocity layer stepping at all!

Dan, please correct me if I'm wrong somewhere, but that's what I've learned on college about resynthesis!

EvilDragon;

Ok, that makes some sense, however the act of "Resynthesizing" is still synthesizing, and the very nature of that results in something "Synthetic" the means and ways are simply formality..whaddaya say Big Dan..?

Except it's not "synthetic sounding" - therein lies the difference, and the reason for that is that Korg used samples to analyse, instead of generating hundreds of sinewave partials through additive synthesis.
