this sounds like a fluke. Why is next version showing 1.03? And like I said, why doesn't anyone else have 1.05?

Now = Current OS on the machine
Next = OS on the card that the user wants to flash.

Typical japanglish, but who I'm I to talk?

Yup, I didn't know what version of software I had installed, so I downloaded 1.03 from the Korg site, put it on my SD Card, and went to upgrade the unit. That's what the unit shows when I start the upgrade process. Obviously I don't want to "upgrade" from 1.05 to 1.03, so I've not flashed it.

Unfortunately, I don't have any changelog information for release 1.05, nor have I used 1.03, so can't really tell you what the differences are.

Thanks for clarifying, SadPaper. I honestly think you might be one of the only ones with this 1.05 OS. Its possible QA might have somehow missed this. Have you contacted Korg about this? Or maybe you don't want to, for fear they may send some secret service men to your door to confiscate this "special" electribe you have! ;)

Out of curiousity, and hopefully this isn't asking you for too much, but is there anything about your tribe that you've noticed is different from the manual - new features, shortcuts, etc?

The guy has an electribe2 with serial serial number: 004346.
Most of people here have one between ~00200 and ~002800.
That just indicates there's a new batch out there with a more up to date firmware. No big deal.

Or - paranoid mode - there's a new electribe2 hardware revision that runs the 1.05 software, which is not compatible with the previous electribe2 released to the market.

Hence the update is not available at Korg's.

Almost certainly the case. It just looks like Asia-Pacific current production run is in the 4000's and has the 1.05 firmware. People just need to keep in mind that if they want to provide feedback to Korg for feature requests etc. then they need to set their expectations to at least v1.06.

I assume that my v1.05 does have bugfixes and possibly some feature changes, but since I've never used any other version, I have nothing to compare with. If anyone has specific things they want me to try in v1.05 and report back, I'm happy to do so.

If you're in Mute Mode for the Trigger Pads, does pressing Trigger + Trigger Pad to silently select it also unmute that Part?

No, just tested this and it does not unmute the part.

Process:
Play a stored pattern
Select Part Mute
Select one or more Part trigger pads to mute them
Press and hold Trigger
Select a Part trigger pad
Release Trigger

Perhaps redundant test, can you do the same test but with the shift+pad shortcuts. Also since i updated to 1.03 step jump is completely broken. Things get really out of sync when youre playing around on there. Could u test that as well? Thanks
