IF there is a design or parts problem, the ONLY way anything will happen is if affected people contact your Country Korg Distributor's Tech/Product Support line.
If the problem is just a few defective parts, they will be replaced.
If the problem is a design issue, it will only get corrected if MANY people report problems.

** KORG Product Support Contacts **
(they support BOTH hardware and software)
Korg USA Product support -- https://www.korgusa.com/contactus (For fastest service I would suggest calling them on the phone)
Outside the U.S. contact your Korg Country Distributor -- https://www.korg.com/us/corporate/distributors/

That sound a definite possibility. Another scenario is that the wheel is pushed in slightly out of alignment with the two black notches on the pot ring. It therefore is only held in place by the friction between the two rings.Bertotti wrote:I wonder if the pc board is flexing just enough to not let the data wheel to fully engage when it is inserted.
Korg Kronos PREPARE TO BE AMAZED !sparkie wrote:I just opened up my Kronos..Before even playing it I just gently pushed the knob from the edge and it came off. Here is a pic.. It goes back on OK but as you can see its a cheesy setup. $2800 and they cant even put a decent quality data knob on this.. ?? Just checking out the touch screen now.. not good! Cant see it worth a crap.... Jeez..

Hope Rich and/or Dan can come back on this. There surely must have been some testing program hence why it is installed on the production version.
The data wheel is one of the most heavily used items on the surface, so you'd expect it be built to withstand the extra pressure/demand - but there could be faulty few?
As a comparative test, I just tried taking my OASYS data wheel off - it refused!

Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5,
I replaced all pots on the Supernova II keyboard I had earlier and Novation just sent them to me, having me replacing them myself. I see no problem with Korg just sending you a wheel or two. Would be silly if you had to send it in for a repair. Call Korg and I expect them to send you a knew data wheel.
Came to check out the comments about the data wheel and noticed your mention of the screen. Did I misinterpret your ending comment or is there a problem with the screen too? One of my concerns (without seeing the Kronos in person) has been how well the screen can be seen without a tilt to it. I am somewhat incredulous that the Korg pa3x arranger has a motorized screen tilt mechanism and the Kronos flagship doesn't even have a manual pull out tilt, or even a fixed tilt. I'm surprised no one probed you on your screen comment yet. So can you kindly elaborate? Thanks.sparkie wrote:I just opened up my Kronos.. Just checking out the touch screen now.. not good! I will assume that is a little sideways pressure pops off the data wheel that maybe there is a bit of wiggle rom between the case and the lip of the data wheel. I wonder if there is enough room for a bit of umhw cut to the size of the data lip. Then it could rid on the case with the uhmw washer between it and the data wheel, no wiggle room no flexion no popping off!
Here is the stuff I am thinking of yes it is to big but you can get it in a small thin bit or even in precut washers.
UMHW
Yes I agree Korg should fix this but some of these guys are way out of the States and ordering from here, returning it for a data wheel seems like a big issue to me.

Q: How would Korg fix it?Whatever the reason for this I would ask Korg to fix it under warranty and then ask them for some compensation for sending you a broken product, for the loss of earnings (you could be after all an important recording artist) and for the trauma......
A: They'd use a quality tape like 3M.
