To summarize

Thanks ultimate DJ and for the smilies, sorry I wound you up.
Mike! Not really a low blow. In my mind I contrasted the OASYS with the VARIOS not compared it. But only an English lit teacher would care for the distinction.

MY point was about promises of longevity and devlopment and how when hype exists, even if not from the manufacture, disappoinent ensues.

Of course Mike I bought your very helpful OASYS CD (Me = JD fromNZ) How about DVD 2 anytime soon because update or no, I am still behind the beast.

I understand why anyone wants to defend OASYS, as do I to anyone else.

I just think on this forum of friends and family we should be allowed to air our dirty washing and that is that our our wonderful, already complete machine may not see more development and that is a little sad

With that I sign off wish you well and wait to see if I can log on tomorrow

PS Sorry for the heat Dan you seem OK
Here is a teori:

Let´s say Korg did have a big update for the Oasys of some kind, maby a smaller one for the Namm show. But let´s assume Korg did ´nt know of the Neko LX 5 and they where so surprised that they decided to wait with the update.

This is pure speculation, but I belive Korg realize that the Neko is far more powerfull then the oasys is today, regarding Karma. That is halv the oasys after all. 2,5 karma in the Niko is awesome, and it force korg to react in some way, maby also by adding the 2,5 karma limited edition since the Niko has far more pads and other stuff...

At least that would explain the missing update, it might just be full of bug´s and needs more testing?

Oasys sales must be about the same level as usual, If we where right about the dammageing the Oasys sales with the curent policy, the I belive Korg would indeed have reacted in some way.

No question that Dan is okay, He´s a great guy and massive support.

Hello Vortex.
No problem.

Thats was you think, dude, and you have expressed it correctly. No need to justify at all.
We all are in the same boat, so you are entitled to your oppinion, as all of us.

And your point is valid, at least for me.
In a way or another, its the same point we all are expressing in this regard.:)
Regards.

In the USA, the minimum advertised price (MAP) is $8.5k for the 88, and $7.5k for the 76. I just looked around a bit, and when converted to dollars, it seems like European advertised prices are somewhat higher at the moment. I would guess that at least some of this is because of currency fluctuations.

If that was a fact, I an many others need´s a refound. I payed 60.000 kr.
for my Oasys. Take a look at the Danich kr and the Us dollar, the kr. is much stronger. That makes no sense.

But I am not complaing, I payed what I agreed to.

Yes, I can confirm this, too. I just got back from picking up a foot switch and there was a 76 key, for $3,999. It's a floor unit, but a good one. The vector joystick had been replaced with a shorter wand and the bpm tempo pot was missing, though you could still turn it.

I went through the buttons (good response) and recalibrated the touchscreen (working fine). It had the original OS; there was no STR-1 synth in there yet.
