Hello , Kronos owners, we need more votes.
My take is that Kronos owners should simply assert, should request what we deserve/want from Korg Inc.
Facts are; last OS rev was March 2019. That was a bug fix.
There have been no feature enhancements for Kronos since 2017.
Personally, I am not content/satisfied with just that.
Currently this is the plan. As I see it.
1] Establish and/or prove we have a volume of Kronos owners that vote "YES".
2] A letter goes to the Korg Inc BOD.
3] We or I get a reply. Or they ignore my letter.
Or the BOD does not say anything tangible or committal.
We are at Step 1.

The problem is that it isn’t really, let’s say 3000 coins for a Kronos times 100 is 30,000 coins. The cost of paying a single software developer for a few months.Galf2 wrote:If we collected 100 signatures from one hundred people, we could surely write to Korg. One hundred people is a lot people.
I’m of the belief the Kronos has never made a profit for Korg and never will. Why would they spend more on it?

I am 99% sure that Korg has made a handsome profit on KronosBobTheDog wrote:[

from the years. 2011 - 2019
2020 is a problem year for profit. Thats the exception, due well to well known
circumstances.
In addition, no company will sell an expensive product for 9 years at a loss or even at break even.
Bob, if you want to Pm detail supporting your belief, I am open to reading it.
FYI, I am not convinced by analogies that try to make a point. Analogies are inherently flawed.
I have posted this several times... no one should " worry' about Korg profitability or financial condition.
Korg Inc is a successful corporation in every business respect, For many decades.

Not true. Tesla is a great example--been in business for 17 years and never made a profit. They probably will eventually, but so far they've had significant losses every year.
Agreed. They are a very successful company and as a result I think everyone needs to look at the business decision of this. Don't get me wrong--I would love a firmware update that adds new features. But what does that get Korg? They've already turned a profit on the Kronos--the tooling and engineering were most likely paid off in the first five years. Why would they invest engineering time and resources, which costs them money, to give new features for free to a 9 year old product? That is not a good business practice. They would be better off coming out with Kronos 3 or the next iteration of their workstation. What would that do? Well all current owners would do one of two things: stay with their current board or buy the new one. The ones that stay with their current Kronos didn't give them any money, but they also wouldn't have either if Korg gave them new features for free since there would be no need to upgrade. But their marketing arm knows how many would upgrade and if it is a profitable position then they come out with a new workstation and that percentage that upgrade do give them money (and quite a bit of it).GregC wrote: I have posted this several times... no one should " worry' about Korg profitability or financial condition.

Now if they do nothing (no updates and no new board), then people either stay or move on. Either way they don't get any more money, but it didn't cost them anything either so they're actually ahead. You could argue that new features will help maintain brand loyalty but the reality is the hardcore users will go where the features are. Some may jump to Montage or the like if they feel like Korg is getting passed by and they need the features, but if/when a Kronos 3 comes out most likely they'll come back. Companies like Korg who have been in this arena for as long as they have know their market and manufacture accordingly.
All a new firmware update will do is generate goodwill for the company from current owners but will generate no revenue. True, it could possibly attract new users if the features were big enough to force a new purchase, but things like "add more user banks" (something *I* really want too, by the way) wouldn't nudge anyone to buy a Kronos who doesn't already have one.
There's a reason why you don't see companies constantly updating old platforms of any type of electronics--it's better to develop new than refine old (from a business profit perspective). Apple learned that a long time ago.
As much as I would like a firmware update for my trusty Kronos, I think the odds of that happening are slim-to-none. A letter signed by 100 diehard fans is just a small voice in a very large market and unfortunately won't make a bit of difference (over nine years globally Korg has sold thousands of Kronos). It's not like Korg doesn't know what features are missing or complaints their user base has--Business 101 is know the needs of your audience. It just has to be profitable for them to act on those needs, and this is not that.

you forgot to consider musk is crazy.
I can make excuses for Korg inc all day long, but I don't.
are you employed by Korg Inc ? I think not.
you don't have the data to speak accurately about Korg Inc..
which applies to everyone here.
I don't agree in being passive, and doing nothing.
go big or go home.
