Bachus wrote:So 10 years of Kronos and only 45,000 sold? That indicates how small the market is. And why prices are so high for some simple electronics..
I've updated the numbers which now stands at 47,000. Remember we have a tiny sample size (maybe 100 out of 50,000+ owners have submitted SN#). Based on my assumptions in the original post, it can only be stated that AT LEAST 47,000 Kronos have been sold. Until Korg releases numbers, we'll never know exactly how many have been sold.

I don't disagree that it's a relatively small market.

I have several thousand ARPS in my MODX.

I would almost bet Nautilus has a similar approach.

I realize many do the " which is best ". I don't believe thats the right question.

The ARPS and Karma, while very different , have unique strengths.

Having both is the way to go.

even while Karma has not been developed in native Kronos [ going on 10 years], Karma has amazing depth and versatility. Karma is an important partner to my song writing.

Kronos 1 - Buying Used, Relevance of Serial Numbers

This is a valuable thread.

I am about to buy a used Kronos 1. I am contemplating two options: -

Option-1: It is a demo piece, looks new and has a serial number ~1200.

Option-2: It is a lightly used piece and has serial number ~6800.

It is obvious that Option-1 is actually an older production but is less used. What do the experts recommend? Less used or newer production?

What would be the approximate age difference between the two options on the basis of serial numbers? I.e., some light on date of manufacturing of both options, if someone can throw...

Also, Option-1 is an import from the gulf and its serial number plate says ~100V AC mains supply. The seller says that the supply is the same in all Kronos across regions and is a universal one which can be safely used with the 220V supply here. The keyboard actually runs nicely as of now on 220V, but I am afraid may not do so in the long run. Again, expert comments are solicited.

Thanks in advance for any replies from you lovely people.

that sounds like a person in " Camp 2".

I did a recent post identifying 3 different ' camps ' of Kronos owners.

I made a change based on a PM conversation with midicomp. It makes sense that the SE numbers are not distinct but rather part of the Kronos 2 pool. Here are the SE numbers I have so far:

205208 73
205298 73
209645 88
210430 61

By themselves, they don't make sense, but when viewed as Kronos 2 serials they are right in line with the Kronos 2 numbers. He mentioned that his SE is simply called "Kronos 2 73" on the back.

This brings us to 51,092 total.
