I really, honestly, don't mean to pull authority here because I do believe a lot of it is taste and I certainly don't want to call a more realistic piano necessarily better (depends a lot on context), but do the ones who are disliking the K's pianos play real grands a lot?
I played a 5' 6" Baldwin and also a Yamaha U3 for some years. The U3 string size is actually larger than a baby grand.
So my ears and taste gravitate to an authentic grand sound.
