Especially given that it requires nothing between itself and the destination device. The fact that the usb dongle can be plugged directly into the Kronos is crazy cool. Saves a bit of dough too.

I'm surprised you think that the VG/GR is better than the triple-play, maybe you have some setup issue as the tripleplay for me works better than any other device I have used, and thats quite a few!

In terms of pure tracking, I think they're very close. The TriplePlay does a really nice job. I may not have it set up perfectly, but I believe I have it set up pretty well. It is superior to anything I've gotten from a GK pickup, but the xtSA tracks a touch better for me.

As I mentioned earlier, I love the simplicity of the TriplePlay, but that can be a double edged sword. I do like being able to adjust any parameter from the front of the GR 30 without needing to do anything with a PC. I know you can adjust some things in 'hardware mode' on the TriplePlay, but I find that far more tedious.

And of course the TriplePlay costs a quarter of what an xtSA and a used GR 30 costs.

I have a few Piezo 13 pin guitars including some Godins and I truly believe there must be something wrong with you tripleplay setup if you think the xtsa with a roland convertor is better.

Well, let's be fair.

1. It's all in the setup of the guitar
2. It's all in the setup of the converter
3. It's GK pickup vs. piezo
4. It's all in the touch

I too like the idea that the Triple play can go right into Kronos - BUT!!

The GR30 has so many cool features that you can transmit to Kronos. Plus, with the GR - as you know - you can designate how each different midi guitar you have (with me it's seven - including the fretless midi) performs based on which guitar setting you have and performance setting you prefer (tapping, legato, etc.).

This thread has inspired a video - Look for it in a week.

This was fun.
Too much equipment. What a bonehead.

But the TriplePlay is far superior in accuracy, its like a totally different league to the Roland or Axon convertors!

I have quite a few 13 pin guitars as well, including some fairly good ones, a GR30, GR33, GR55, VG88, VG99, SpringPort, AXON AX100 and a Axon AX100 mkii.

I could not even imagine using these now for midi work, as for me anyway the triple play system is just so much better.

I totally agree with the guitar setup part of your post, thats why I am wondering if there is a setup issue with the triple play.

Looking forward to the video, always entertaining :)
