hello,
i am very interested by these files (meta.img and sample.img).
I have heard the demo from peru and the sample sound really good.
Can someone give me the needed files?
Thank you,
Best regards,

I happen to speak quite a few languages, covering much of Europe. I searched on German, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Russian... (I got tired) and found that in Serbia, Krome is sold by official supplier as having "32Mb sample RAM memory". You can look for yourself here:

Just open the page and wait the big flash presentation to turn automatically to its 3rd page. Look closely to the right, it says "32MB Sample RAM memorije", which is quite understandable...

Dear Sirs,
Re: 4GB SDHC sold in PERU
Hope, soon, "Mr. Sharp" will provide the download section having the samples/pcg for the Krome owners / members.
May God bless "Mr. Sharp / Korg forum" and "Mr. Arturo Bravo / Audioxpress".
B/regards,
Satya

Hello,
i managed to get the meta.img and sample.img.
And loading new samples on my korg krome worked like a charm !
Now, i am trying to understand the both file structures by reverse-engineering them, if someone has already done this or worked on it, i would be very interested in getting informations. Do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
It is just the beginning

Perhaps I would have done it, had I received the files. But my two requests were never answered.

Hello again,
i keep on reverse-engineering META.IMG and SAMPLE.IMG files (since i regret that the sample feature is not yet opened for everybody

)
What i can say, is that :
META.IMG has some similar fields with other Korg file format.
SAMPLE.IMG file (16 Mb Lenght) has been successfully imported as Raw samples, 8 bits PCM.
So i decided to launch myself.
My first try on uploading my own sample, give me some strange results :
But if META file modification are possible :
What do you think now? protected feature? Not so sure.
Sorry for my english, i am french...
Regards

Did you look for checksums in those files?

Great
You used the software Awave Studio.
I saw the video of Brazil, have taken a cue from them.
So you do not feel super cool!

Hi "tomtomheaven"
When you know more how it works, maybee you can write down guidelines how to get samples working on Krome and info about Awave Studio.
And maybee also you can make a webpage for Krome with possibility to download those files (META.IMG and SAMPLE.IMG files) for other Krome user.
Or use this web as download place

Best regards

Congrats!
Do you know any limitations yet? Is the 32 MB sample ram spec correct?

Hi again and thanks.
No, i did not used Awave Studio since i am working on a MAC...and awave studio does not save meta.img/sample.img. (I do not have makeoptionpcm.exe that is probably (c) by Korg and only for supplier...)
The Meta.img file has been reverse-engineered by SynalyzeIt to understand how it works...(Sample.img contains samples, all in a row)
There are 4 part in this file :
A global header
A multisample global section
A multisample description section
A waveform description section
Each part contains information about the number of the following sections...
The global header contains the number of multisample, the multisample global section contains the number of sample and the offset of the first multisample description section...and finally the multisample description section contains the number of the waveform...
The last part "waveform description" is the most difficult to understand for me but...nothing impossible : offset, lenght, looping offset... and all this kind of fields will be retrieved with a single hex calculator
SynalyzeIt enabled me to write a "grammar", so that it is easily portable to any programming langage (C, java...)
I could release a software, but i would prefer that KORG officially supports this interesting feature.

Cyph

Congratulations....
Very well done "tomtomheaven" with reverse-engineering, it is not always it succeeds.
I think many agree about your thoughts that it is best if "KORG officially supports this interesting feature"
But it has gone at least 9 weeks since this "sample feature" was shown at Youtube, and NO respons from Korg.
Whats the option: Korg users can write mail to Korg customer service with request to get clear answer about Krome "sample feature" in videos from Korg resellers.
1. Korg could at least say something, it is reseller feature, test feature or feature under development.
2. If nothing happens in some weeks, then probably Korg will never say anything about it, suppress it with silence, but then Korg should not brag about their fantastic support to Krome users.
Then the only solution to implement "sample feature" is that users develop software fix in C or C++ or Java.
Meanwhile tests can continue by users....
Best regards

Hello,
someone told me that my demonstration was only based on samples from the sdcard from peru.
so ... it was necessary to show a little bit more about my work :

Please, stop annoying me... only constructive comments will be considered
