No Karma, no CX3, no 8 engines, no expansions, no nothing....
That's why I will keep my M3 expanded with radias, and I will buy a Nord Electro 4D (7 kg)....
I'm really curious,so allow me to ask you this...why on earth would you expect a Korg budget workstation to have multiple engines??
As for Karma....there is a software option for the M50,so why would you assume there won't be Karma software for the Krome in the future??...unless of course, you were hoping for on-board Karma?Which to me,is an unrealistic expectation for a budget keyboard.
In terms of expansion..well...Krome has the VST plug-in option, which is some very nice compensation for the absence of internal expansion.
In my opinion, the only reason I think you should keep your M3,is due to the Radias engine...but apart from that, I would guess that the bulk of what is on the M3,is on the Krome.
As for the Krome's pianos, the M3 does not even come close to matching the Krome's pianos.
Let me answer you. I do not expect 8 engines, karma, and all the features from a flagship product, but, I do really expect something more than an amazing piano sound......Is a gigging keyboard for god sake!
About my decision of keeping the M3, besides Radias, I have lot of tools there, that Krome don't have. Triggers, xy, lot of real time controllers, SAMPLER??? you know, the real stuff. And don't forget how well made it is...
I suspect that you work for Korg, don't you? First time I meet you on this forum, and I see how you are doing a marketing research with your questions! hahaha

Jeeeze, you couldn't be more wrong. As an owner of a fully expanded M3 AND Kronos, I can tell you with extreme confidence the German Grand from the Kronos and the M3 Exp. 4-way stereo grand are identical. I know, I know, the Kronos has 8-way velocity the M3 has 4. You would be hard pressed to actually tell the difference. I know, the Kronos has uncompressed samples and the M3's are compressed. Means very little soundwise. There is no doubt the Kronos features far outshine the M3, but don't forget with Karma onboard the M3 you also have SST which is huge for live performance. But I must say, the Krome 88 weighing less than 40lbs is very tempting if only there was some way to change patches and combis without the cutoff of sound, I'd probably pick one up as a gigging 88 keyboard.

To the contrary,I am not role playing as a Korg rep,but you were ripping the Krome to shreds, saying that essentially,it has nothing...no this,no that...blah-blah-blah.....which is why I thought it pertinent to point out that the Krome has some redeeming features.
Yeah...I forgot to mention the sampling, but in terms of sampling, did you honestly think a budget workstation would have this feature?
Do you know of any other budget workstations that have 3.8GB worth of content,a 7" full color screen,a midi sequencer that rivals the sequencer in Kronos, offers 73-keys for $1200,complete PC integration AND has 5 insert effects??
If the Krome did have sampling, you would be complaining about the higher cost, most likely.
Yes,one of the main focuses of the Krome,is that it was designed for gigging, but it wasn't designed to be a mid-grade board like the M3...however though,it was also designed to be a comprehensive DAW tool,so that should count for something(at least enough so,for you not to trash the Krome).
The Krome has software-grade pianos,EP's and drums, which in of itself,is more than any other budget workstation is offering and yet,you expect ALL or most of the sounds to be software-quality as well for it's price tag??
You say that you didn't expect multiple engines, but yet you felt compelled to mention that the Krome doesn't have them,so why even bring it up?
It seems abundantly clear to me-as well as it does to anyone who understands production budgets and market demographics, that Korg overall, has offered more in a budget workstation than anyone else, with their Krome keyboard.
Yup. I agree.

Hi! Chill out I was just joking about working for Korg!!!
1st-I didn't say Krome is nothing, I don't think so... It is a good workstation, period (nothing special, no hammond emulation, no sampling, just 4 knobs).
2nd: I really don't need drums sounds...I have an excellent drummer who works in many projects with me, and I really don't like when there is a drum sound but you can't see the drummer....I wonder, is this necessary? A gigging Keyboard should take care of the Keyboard Tasks, not drums...Nice drums, and where is the organ section?? (I repeat: is this a gigging keyboard?)
3rd: Again, I don't care about 9 engines, ok? but lot of people was expecting at least 2 or 3, not just one (read other posts)
I think that Korg developed a good product, very well priced (as you said), but the marketing strategy behind it, is much bigger than what the Krome can do.
I really need the 9 sliders, the IF switches, the ribbon controller, RADIAS,XY MOTION, Karma (only for SST), and Sampler (organimation soft), all this makes a GIGGIN KEYBOARD FOR ME.
If I should choose between a Mercedes Benz, 4 years old, or a VW new, well I will choose the Mercedes!!!!, and I think so of the Krome. (Kronos is Ferrari

)
Peace!!

Korg has never made a single keyboard that has met all of my needs completely, but I think they've done a great job of balancing the ratio of cost and features.
That's why I expect more from Korg, because I know they can!!! Is my favourite brand, but really I am planning to buy a nord electro 4d, besides the money (is more expensive), the electro 4d is the perfect gigging keyboard for me (piano, rhodes, wurly, clav, hammond!, vox, farfisa, strings and synth sampl library) and is only 7 kg!!!!!! (sorry I am latin american, kg and km for me!!! )
However I feel that I am cheating Korg!!! hahaha
Regards Tom, and some day, I hope, you will share some pics from you with your new KROME!!!!

Perhaps my reply was too strong before stating that the M3 and Kronos piano samples were identical, but they were obviously made from the same sampling session. I have them sitting side-by-side going through the exact same sound system. The differences between the Exp. stereo-4-way and German grand are so subtle very few would notice any difference. And I still hear the mid-range klinky sound still with the Kronos. Almost like the attack is too strong. Both great boards though.
I gig with the M3-73 because it's lightweight enough to lug up and down stairs, C-C configuration of keys, 73 keys and I NEVER thought I would use the pads, but I find myself using them all the time now for triggering sounds. Eventually I'm sure I'll switch to the Kronos, but I would need to lug an additional board because 61 keys is not enought for piano and I'm not that crazy so far about the CX3 organs sounds.

So no drawbars...
Any satisfied Krome owners who play a decent amount of Organs?
I like organs & I hope to be playing more in the future, I'm looking at the Krome though. I was thinking I could load a few organ patches on different tracks in sequencer mode & instead of grabbing a few drawbars, I could just switch between tones. As long as I've got rotary control; start, stop, fast, slow, & turn the clicks on & off I'd be ok.
What do you think?

Hi there although I'm not a big organ sound fan myself have a look at the dan stesco site and the organ pack he's done is good for a few bucks, may be the solution.
