The difference between the L and the LL SRAM is in the standby power. The LL runs on a fraction of the standby power and seems to be otherwise identical.

But what's the significance of the paper label with the "V - 4"?

If you get a PBS-TRI board and the SRAM from a different sources can you still make them work properly together?

So... I guess both NEC D431000ACZ-70L and NEC D431000ACZ-70LL should do the job. What´s more, from what I gathered, the LL version is readily available from most electronic parts suppliers, as opposed to the single L version.

Hi:

Jerry Kovarsky asked to one technician that work at Korg USA, and he say that both chips will work with the board.

Now, if any of us have seen a pbs without the chips, then you can buy for a fraction of the cost, since the board need those chips in order to load the factory patches and the flash roms new patches.

To the friend that have try the chips without the pbs board: i've just checked, the chips show me the extra banks without the pbs board. Now, i have the pbs board, and the last thing i think is that the pbs enable the extra bank. So if you put the pbs out of your keyboard, then you'll have the extra banks anyway.

Of course that is more fun have the pbs and the chips.

But why does one of the SRAM chips have a white label with a code on it is what I'd like to know?

A sticker isn't a standard way to indicate an IC.

My chips doesn't have any sticker. The rule is what is painted on the plastic case.

So, doesn't matter.

Good news everyone!

I found a PBS-TRI board on eBay, and I bought it. Hopefully we will find out how this works. I think that the PBS board enables the banks.

Hi:

Is a PBS without the chips???

So congratulations, don't matter if it enables the extra banks, you'll have 8MB for sample data.

Cheers.

It is a PBS with the chips. So, if my chips are bad, the others should work.

I found one too and installed it this morning. I got the board and the SRAM from different sources. Installation is pretty simple as long as you pay attention and seat the parts in their sockets properly which takes a bit of care. At first I forgot that I needed to do a full reset before the PBS-TRI and SRAM will behave properly so when I powered it up, the Trinity kept freezing up on me when I'd press the Bank button. That was a scare but it's all good now.

Does anyone know if the TFD-1, 2, 3, and 4S files are available anywhere? They didn't come with the card so I'm not sure where to get them now.

It works!

I installed it just now. I had the same problem as 3 fingers until I did a reset.

Now I have extra room for sounds, finally.

@3 fingers: I think you may be able to find them on the bittorrent sites. I will look there myself later.

First of all, save everything to floppy disk, all of your PCG data, as you will lose it by doing a factory reset.

Shut down the Trinity, unplug from the mains electrics. Open up the Trinity, ground yourself and the Trinity by briefly touching an earth connection (such as a radiator in your home, if they are earthed). Carefully (and I mean REALLY carefully - those legs are too easily bent) insert the chips into the Trinity's motherboard in the correct orientation (with the indent on each chip pointing inwards).

Close up the Trinity, and hold Enter + 0 when you switch it on. This will wipe the Trinity's memory. You do not have to re-install OS v3.xxx again.

Then take a look to see if you have C & D banks.

As mentioned, if you don't have the PBS board, I'm not sure if the chips will work alone, but it's worth a try.
