I've searched the net for information on the "128 Free RADIAS Infused Combis" and it's a little bit confusing for me.

I have installed the V2, XPanded and V2 Radias and everything.

Can i or can i not install the "128 Free RADIAS Infused Combis" and get it to work?
Hello kohl,

See the section on EXB-RADIAS here:

http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/korg-m3:ko ... r-firmware

There was in the past an additional combis file for use with EXB-RADIAS on the M3, it was called RADCOMV2.PCG which is no longer on Korg's web site. I do not know the status of that file since I await a reply from Jerry. I will amend the Wiki guide if the RADCOMV2.PCG combis are made available again.

Best regards,
Rob

The files are back up on korg.com, M3 page under Support/Soundware.

They just got "lost" in the site redesign/renewal/shuffle.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks a lot for posting RADCOMV2 again. I just finished updating the Wiki guide - now a series of 4 guides cross referenced. If you spot any errors please tell me for a change

Rob

Hi,

I am very new to synths. Actually, the M3 is my first ever :)

Hopefully this topic is still alive. I recently bought my M3-61 (not expanded) and updated it to v2.03 (yep, I followed the powercycle request). When booting cold, it says v2.03 anyway. Wanting to try the expansion sounds while waiting for the ordered M256 board, I am a bit stumped. I use the following files in the root of a non U3 USB stick:

EXPCM01.KEP
EXPCM02.KEP
EXPCM03.KEP

They are seen correctly in the MEDIA:EX-USB-PCM tab. When loading for example EXPCM01.KEP Brass and Woodwinds 1 and when finished going to PROG - BANK SELECT U-E (which is where I believe they should be), there is nothing there except the standard 000: InitProgramUE000.

Am I using the correct files? If not, where can I find them? I looked at korg.com under support where the rest of the docs and software is, but the only EX-USB I find is the 04 file. Do I need to take extra steps to see the new sounds in the User table? I went through the PDF several times, but I must be overlooking something.

Thanks for your help

Hi Marinus,

Congratulations on joining the clan of M3 users, it is a very versatile workstation, which takes a long time to master, though I think the new subscription based tutorial videos from Stephen Kay and Scott Raposa will be a big help. Also the various Wiki articles here may be useful to you:

http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/korg-m3:start

You can check the location of factory loaded programs and combis by reading the document called "M3 XPanded Voice Name List" (VNL) here:

http://www.korg.com/uploads/Download/M3 ... 910000.pdf

As you said, there should be factory programs in Program bank U-E and combis in Combi bank U-E. If you can't see anything in those banks, then you have not performed the v2.03 OS upgrade correctly - you have to upgrade to v2.00 first and only then can you load v2.03 as an incremental update. When you run the installation(s) the second time, the factory resources including all the programs and combis are automatically loaded as per the VNL, there is nothing else you have to do. A tutorial is here, I just updated it to clarify that v2.00 has to be done before v2.03 etc:

http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/korg-m3:ko ... r-firmware

Korg subsequently released the EXPCM04.KEP file which contains the "original" M3 v1 piano samples. If you want to use those instead of the v2 XPanded pianos then there is an additional step to perform by running a .PCG file manually to change the programs and combis to use the 04 pianos instead of the 03 pianos. There are more details here:

http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/korg-m3:lo ... mple-files

If having read these articles there is anything that you think could be improved or made clearer, please let me know since I maintain those articles on the Wiki site.

Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Thank you very much for your help. After reading the article at URL:

http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/korg-m3:ko ... r-firmware

and simply following the crystal clear procedure again, it looks like it worked fine. At boot, the M3 now also says XPanded, which before it did not. Currently running v2.0.3. The programs and combi's are there.

I will be heading over to Karma-Lab and also take a look at the subscription based tutorials you mentioned. There certainly is a lot to learn!

Thanks again for your help, it saved me a few more hours of frustration. I should have read better first time around :)

Take care,
Marinus
