VIF4 doesn't appear as an option and the Video-RCA port is definitely there… so...
Pete
There's no mention of VIF4 card in the manual. Apparently, you no longer need that. It doesn't say anything about the video quality either, but we already know what to expect from an outdated Video-RCA output port.
[quote="Reuben"]Is it just me or were most underwhelmed by this new keyboard?
I was expecting:
-iPad integration and apps to come as standard (e.g. full screen midi editor together with the standard expected announcement that their would be "some exciting apps to be released soon....")
-bluetooth midi and audio connectivity (Korg Module has bluetooth midi so why doesn't the keyboard?)
-vastly improved sound quality including a far better piano
(it still sounds like the muddy Pa3x piano to me) the Kronos piano should have been included.
how can the PCM be supposedly 10 times the size when the sounds seem to be the same?
-I was hoping for less weasel words like EDS eXpanded which could mean anything or nothing.
How about some real statistics like XXmb of ROM sounds?
Now that I've had my rant - where can I buy one?

I hear you Reuben. I have just listened to the demos on sound cloud. Where did the 10x pcm go ???? it certainly has not made a major significant difference to what I am hearing online. Its nice to get excited by a new board but as the dust starts to settle and the detail of what has actually arrived starts to become clear , my excitement has started to subside.

Just a guess, but I think they put the Krome grand piano or something similar on it. The Krome had a huge chunk of PCM memory compared to other romplers around that same market segment, but most of it was a huge piano sound.
Obviously, they aren't going to get the Kronos piano because it has an entire modeling engine devoted to it. But the Krome piano was Korg's attempt to put a Kronos-like sounding piano into a PCM version.
Laurance, you took the words out of my mouth....where's digital out/in?
Unless it's all going USB?
Not only was it a head scratcher why my PA3x has Coaxial S/P DIF and my Kronos2 has Optical S/P DIF and why can't dear Korg have Japan and Italy be on the same page, but now the digital outputs are gone:-)?!?!
(Coaxial to Optical converter just arrived in the mail the other day.)

My guess , 128MB on board (fixed) + 256MB removable/upgradable (total 384MB out of the box ~ 400MB)
With compression option we can get close to 800MB
Yes but you see they didn't mention anything about "up to 800 MB" deal at all. Strange a bit...
My guess is , from 1 GB (or maybe 2) of CPU board peripheral permanent Ram only 400 Mb
are available for custom PCM since all the rest of Ram capacity is occupied for pre-loading this
huge factory library that must fully dropped in Ram while into none-streaming old technology.
If no compression is supported (that I strongly believe) Pa3X owners will loose 112 Mb of custom samples !
Not to mention Ram loading time or memory preserve method !
Neuer EDS-X (Enhanced Definition Synthesis-eXpanded) Sound Engine mit Streaming-Technologie
or translated: New EDS X ( Enhanced Definition Synthesis - Expanded) Sound Engine with streaming technology
If it supports same streaming technology used in Kronos this mean a totally different manage of memory and the use of big libraries (pianos with natural decay, no loops, etc) that could account for the increased PCM data and no more need to compress data (in fact Kronos support both streaming and lossless compression)

We're aware , from time to time Korg.de changes specifications according to internal leakage , so we'd better wait for official
Advanced Edit Manual that will definitely stop our speculations !

I dont think so... Maybe korg.de is spoiling the beans
