So you feel that just changing that from 44 to 48 will resolve the static issue? Done in the file - project settings - audio - sample rate.
Yes , what you describe sounds like a conflict of different sample rates. You have to set the sample rate for each song in the project settings. Have you tried it already?

You don't need anything but a USB cable from the Kronos to your Mac. That will send both audio and midi. You do have to make sure everything is set to 48k
Well great news guys! Without making any changes, in retrying it today, I can now use both miti and/or audio as originally envisioned and desired!

Looking back over the last 10 days since I got my new Power MacBook, I realized that there was several items, such as the wifi printer, which initially weren't functioning properly, with Mac telling me I'd have to get new drivers from the manufacturer, etc., but after a day or 2 of opening and closing programs and rebooting once or twice a day, those things got self-corrected and so it was with the Kronos audio setup, unlike the MIDI.

So now I'm all set, and the door is open for all manner of future creative projects. I love this set up, as now I can put everything directly into Logic, on different tracks and then see it all on a big screen and have at it! This is great!

Thanx for all your suggestion on this.

Best, Ronnie

So you are saying it just started working out of the blue? That would have me concerned.

I agree with Bertotti, it may have been something as simple as rebooting or restarting the computer or something else.

All has been working fine since yesterday. The only remaining problem I have now is that I use both a Shure mike USB plug in to the mac and the Kronos. When I want to switch from Kronos to the Shure, i can't just change the audio pref and/or system prefs, but have to close and restart Logic. But when switching from the Shure to Kronos, I have to reboot the whole computer. Fortunately it's such a new and fast running computer this occurs very quickly.

You would avoid that if you get yourself an audio interface. I currently have a Kronos, a Nord Stage 2 and a AKG Condenser Mic hooked up.

how much are these? and do they have multiple uses with mixer panels, etc.?

i could also get around this by using the Kronos mike plug ins. so far, it's not that big of a deal.

I've also seen it where I have to close and reopen logic just cause I pulled the headphone jack out and now there's no sound at all.

It all depends on what you want. You will need at least 3 inputs - Stereo for Kronos & Mic they usually run about $500-$600 + cables.

As far as mixers there are some that come with mixer software included. Check out a few different manufacturers like Motu, Focusrite, etc.

If you are satisfied with setup as is right now than why spend the $ if you don't have to.

Ron,
As Diego points out above an audio interface will solve all of the issues you are having. If you were going to use Kronos alone then USB would be fine but if you're looking to add a microphone and heaven knows what else next week, an audio interface is the answer. It's a very simple hook up, all you have to do is connect USB out of Kronos into your computer as you have it now, audio left and right TRS jacks from Kronos into the audio interface. The audio interface will be USB or FireWire into the computer. In Logic you select the audio interface as your audio device and that's it you're done. You can now record Kronos audio or midi while singing and dancing into another channel in Logic simultaneously.
If you decide to go this route you will see that there are an abundance of audio interface choices. I would start at Sweetwater.com and look at some of the entry-level Motu interfaces. Decide on how many inputs you may need and go from there. (Extra inputs would be a wise choice) Good luck! .. jmo.

Hi Ron,
I had the same problem with the distorted audio signals (iMac & Logic X). Also in my case, after checking cables, preferences, sample rates lots of times and various reboots of Kronos and iMac the problem went away for no reasons. Just hope it doesn't come back!

I'm having the same issue as the OP.

I have my Kronos connected to my laptop via USB and I'm getting intermittent spikes of static, sometimes up to several seconds long.

I'm running OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 and Live 9.1.1. I have the latest firmware and USB audio drivers for my Kronos, and I have Live set to 48 bit as suggested earlier in this thread.

This problem also happens in GarageBand and Live 8.4.2, and I've tried two different USB cables with no difference.

Regular stereo audio output from the Kronos seems fine.

I haven't called Korg tech support yet. Does anyone have any ideas before I do?

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Dave,

welcome to the club. I have the same issue (still and again). Sometimes all works fine, sometimes I encounter complete distortion of the audio signals sent from Kronos to the Imac (not viceversa).

I am afraid, that so far neither Apple nor Korg support have provided any help on this. My feeling is that the 10.9.2. OS update might have made things better (the distortion seems to occur less frequently), but hasn't resolved the issue.
