Is there light visible within the Kronos optical out port, and does it appear fairly bright at the end of the optical cable?

Have you verified that the converter (in the optical to coax direction) and Focusrite SPDIF input work correctly with any other devices? There are 3 devices in the chain and no reason (based on the info you've given) to determine it's a Kronos problem yet.

Jepp, light is on and seems to be right. If I compare, it the same like otherway round. Unfortunately i wasn't able to test it with another device... Haven't anything like this. I have ask a friend of mine to bring me a MD player, so I can test it with. I am currently in contact with Focusrite as well and awaiting some more infos from them.

check your connections and the direction switch on your SPDIF converter. I see that the 18i20 SPDIF coax IN is on the bottom. On my Tascam US1641 it is on the top. I just started using the SPDIF out into Cubase via a MIDIMAN CO2 converter and it works fine. Make sure your DAW is running at 24bit 48k.

Hi xp50player, believe me: I have checked all settings and connections more than twice. And as said before, everything works fine other way round, so I could record on my Kronos from the 18i20, but not other way round. Even though my first plan was to stay in the digital domain, I have switched now to record my Kronos via analogue out. The interface offers enough ins, whereas I have now doubled my ins with an additional focusrite octopre mk2 dynamic, therefore I can use as well all outs of the Kronos easily. I know, it is luxury to use 6 ins for that, but I am lazy and does not want to tincker around with plugs. And I do have 16 ins that way, so...

Exactly same issue with Focusrite 6i6 and Kronos (upgrade X)

Post by niels.bos@live.com »

Hi FloydG,

I have the EXACT same issue. Reverse direction works fine, but not Kronos S/PDIF OUT to Focusrite S/PDIF IN.

I use the Marmitek TC22 converter, which can convert in both directions: Exact same issue. Perhaps it is a Focusrite issue?

If you ever find a solution, please let me know! I'll do the same.

Cheers,
Niels

Hi Niels,
I'll keep you in the loop. Have opened up a ticket with Focusrite as well.
