a (kinda pricey) cure for the subpar amp/rotary in the CX3?

Ventilator all the way. I got mine when they first came out and I've used it on a Motif, my Roland VR-760 (V-Combo) and now my Kronos X. It fits in my backpack and is amazing.
I belong to a Yahoo Group, CloneWheel organ group. When I saw monster players who would spend thousands on custom leslies etc, start leaving them home for the Neo Ventilator, I got one. Haven't looked back.
When you're in you're living room and you can hear a real Leslie within 10 or 20 feet, yes there is something extra there. But once you are in a bar or on stage, you have to mic it. So you're not getting that living room feel anyway.
I have no afilliation with the Vent comany, but it improves any organ it's attached to for Overdrive, grittiness, speed, acceleration, tone and mic distance. You even hear the sound of the rotors going around through the mic when you're not playing anything. And finally you can set the newer ones so that when you brake it, it stops with the horns facing out so you won't get a muffled sounds which happens when the horns stop facing the sides, away from the mics.
Just my two cents.

I absolutely agree here.. the ventilator is the best leslie sim that exists today.. it's a great complement for the CX3 engine, because it improves two of the major weak points, the leslie sim, and the overdrive, and the improvement is dramatic!
The CX3 engine by itself is unusable for anyone who is really particular about achieving a traditional Hammond/leslie sound, but with the Ventilator it's almost as good as some of todays dedicated clones.
BTW I would take a ventilator over a real spinning motion sound speaker any day!

Everything I've heard about the Ventilator says it's the best. I have played through a real Leslie but nowadays, who really want s to carry one? Plus, by the time you get the sound going through the P.A., The beauty of the real Leslie is lost.
I'm one of the odd ones in that I'm quite content with the Kronos Hammond and Leslie sim. I never have to play organ where ti is the only sound. There is always the rest of the band playing loudly and so all the nuances that you would notice are pretty much berried.

If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!

Another +1 for the Vent. I own one. Love it. All CX-3 output I set to assignable out 3. 1/4" from that assignable 3 into the vent and the vent output goes into the analog input on the kronos. Easy Peazy. And the vent fits on the Kronos in the upper right hand corner right up against the tempo knob. 61 key version btw. 73/88 would have an even easier time.
I would say the Kronos CX-3 plus the vent sounds (and my hammond expert buddy agrees) as good as an Xk-3 with a leslie 3300. The faders and a remote footpedal for the fast/slow make the interface almost as nice to play, better then a nord's draw-buttons.
The ventilator is just that good. Shall I say it? Game Changer! lol

Just out of curiosity, why don't you have the Ventilator on the floor and use it's switch?Phinnin wrote:Another +1 for the Vent. I own one. Love it. Curious as to why you would have to run the Vent output back into the Kronos ? Seems like the Vents output is in stereo L & R, and should go off to a mixer's inputs or whatnot.

Does adjusting the drive affect the volume at all?
